40mm Damage?
Do the grenade launchers actually do any damage? When they actually hit an enemy (something rarely to happen) they don't seem to do anything. Seems like allowing rangers to use theirs' or putting one on a vehicle is just asking to waste ammo and make a vehicle worthless.

They're not great but they seem to do okay on higher veterancy rangers since their accuracy and rate of fire improves as they level. They're okay against human infantry and only average at best against homunculi.

They seem just as bad against humans. I've watched the APC I put one on hit a normal group of banditos consistently and none of them died.

it's situational too, u can shoot with grenade launcher behind a wall or a cliff.

They do splash damage and don't really have to hit anyone directly. It takes quite a few grenaged to kill, but after a while a whole enemy squad may die.
I, personally, tend to disable 40mm on my rangers ROE, because of the supplies price, but sometimes, these grenades are very useful.
And for vehicles... I've no idea why would I put a 40mm on any of them. Pretty much any other choice is better. Including the free .50 cal.

They don't do enough damage for that to be useful. A minigun can wipe out a squad far faster by putting it in firing position and running back.

I haven't seen rangers do anything but waste them playing them. Never using them on vehicles though. Makes it a sitting target.

I've seen a couple of decent hits. Maybe 8-10 over the Rangers entire ammo capacity, making it largely useless as they don't lead at all. But honestly it's just a bonus if it hits, as the sniper rifle and AR's are he primary damage dealers. and I still haven't quite figured out what is needed to make vehicle crews abandon, just luck I suppose. So I doubt the grenade launcher is a good choice for that against anything armored and will outright detonate anything lighter.

I think a lot of this would be better if they simply showed us the stats and, like you mentioned, have them lead their shots.

because the rangers are suppose to be mobile fighters, the grenades can fire on the move and fire behind object.
Capsssssss Feb 28, 2024 @ 7:45pm
What does that matter if they don't do any damage, even on a direct hit?

Their splash radius is kinda small. But their damage is fine. They destroy light vehicles and are good against infantry. The best way to use them is from behind cover.
They're just kinda okay against infantry in the open compared to machine guns, but what they're really good at is clearing buildings, especially Strong Buildings. The splash damage will rack up damage where an MG would often just hit a wall and do nothing.

Still a very niche weapon I wouldn't actively bring with me, just use if I found a vehicle with one already equipped in a mission in situations that played to its strengths.

So... like the rest of the weapons? And the arc is worthless because you could simply kill them faster and remove the risk entirely instead.

Look up the meaning of "gun".

Rarely seen them do anything to infantry and never to vehicles.

I just haven't seen them deal enough damage for even attacking buildings to be useful. You're more likely to lose more waiting for them to do damage than just rushing in melee.

40mm is more of a utility weapon but I'm satisfied with the damage it does
Mr.Kill Feb 28, 2024 @ 10:35pm
It takes two to three grenades of any kind to waste a cartel infantryman. That's not bad though considering your only other options for killing people in cover is the minigun from the bradley or praying to god that your snipers actually do their jobs.
