The problem is that the spotter may not be visible to the player (due to camouflage). And Legion has units with the highest level of camouflage in the game - swarm.
You can give a save with this situation. I'll turn on the visibility of all enemies in debug mode and show you exactly who the spotter is.
The who designed these missions?
The Oklahoma mission where you are required to rescue the rocket artillery effectively has arty raining down on you from the second the prompt triggers.
I've reloaded probably 40 times trying to actually save the trucks which get hit by the arty and explode. On top of that there is about 10 hunter platforms that spawn WHILE the arty is hitting you endlessly.
This is absolutely absurd, if I can't actually see the spotter units and you prevent us from taking our own artillery, the only recourse is to try and dance around it.
Moreover, you can step back and do other objectives. And start recapturing Himars when your entire army arrives on the mission (including your artillery). There is no need to rush to the center if there is a threat from enemy artillery.
I've tried completing other objectives and the arty just deletes my army while trying to take the road. If your saying there is some kind of break with the arty I haven't seen it yet.
I'll try waiting, but quite honestly this mission has me close to uninstalling the game.
They lands. If Himars starts shooting at a high parabola, then the rockets take a long time to fly, but they lands.
How exactly do I find and detect the spotter units?
I beat this mission on normal, but playing it on hard, like this doesn't feel possible.
Like I just timed it and the arty has been firing for almost 10 minutes straight
Movement is always the worst thing you can do against artillery.
My tip would be to use the city itself to your advantage. Look out for large broken skyscrapers and place a decoy vehicle behind them. The building will block the artillery shells. It may be that the artillery will stop firing, just drive out of cover a bit and then back again. This will exhaust the artillery fire fairly quickly.
I drove my tank back and forth for 10 minutes and its literally shooting at me in the bottom right hand corner of the map. Eventually one of the shells hits and causes engine damage and then the tank dies.
Anyways it's fine. After something like 50 reloads I think I need a break from this game. I was having alot of fun with it, but it's clear it's not in a launch ready state.
Maybe I'll come back after a few big patches. It's really too bad.
Actually, the artillery has to reload ammunition in between, that's the moment to strike.
In my case, it was always at the top left of the trench between the town and the machine factory.
It's right behind the building where the rocket launchers are, place a few fast vehicles or tanks at the edge of the trench and they can snipe the artillery while reloading.
A thing to keep in mind is the AI has permanence, they will keep shooting at your last known position I think even if you killed any spotters, so you don't just need to kill every enemy who can see you, you need to move away from where you were last seen.
Dude, the arty is like tracing my tank back at the spawn of this map and firing for 10 minutes without interruption.
I've literally beat this map on normal, I restarted my campaign on hard and this is basically made it impossible to continue.
According to the dev response there is invisible spotter drones or something so I'm driving my tank around trying to avoid the endless arty fire waiting for it to run out of ammo. Or I was, I spent almost 2 hours trying to get anywhere with this map and im kinda done.
Give me a save where you are firing and they are not landing.
There was such a bug in beta, but it has been fixed.
