Are Legion Tanks Immune to Rocket Launchers?
Did the Santa Fe Convoy mission the other day, Had my 2 infantry squads guarding the WEST route and a whole garage full of RPG troops guarding the north route.

I SWEAR TO GOD, no matter how many RPG 7s or SMAWs they put into the Legion tanks they deal no damage what so ever.

Seemed like the only thing that was hurting them was the Abrams (which was firing its AP shells funny enough, which it rarely uses), the HEAVY Platform cannon, ATGM teams and the HEAVY WEAPONS (which are 20mm heat rounds and Pastor 1s Plasma Recoilless rifle) teams the game gives you.

Legion tanks require serious firepower to destroy, ATGM's and 120mm cannons. Rocket launchers and such don't hurt them much.

They have huge armour from the front. I destroyed some with them leading some of my units and ignoring rpg team - if you fire RPGs on their back they get killed nicely in 1-2 volleys.

In Santa Fe you can lie in ambush for convoys and wait till you have an angle on their back. Legion tanks have terrible turret move speed, so if you are lucky you could squeeze two rpg shots on their weaks side while they are turning.

the easiest way to destroy them is:
For north put down mines with technicians
For west, have tank and bradley wait in ambush behind since the tanks go foward and dont stop, its pretty easy to hide above or bellow them and follow them around a bit to destroy them from the back. Bradley
Dont forget to check integrator tech.
Atgm also work nicely, plasma recoiless, the air strikes if you can time them

I tend to put an ATGM a bunch of infantry and the abrams up north.
I put my bradley and all my RPG troops to the west side.

Between the starting troops and all the bonus troops you can easily take on those tanks.

If you shoot the front armor it will take 4-5 atgms to destroy a legion tank. So better not do that.

C4 from rangers or guerillas 1 shots it and anything in a radius (can kill 3 with one c4) and you can rush them to the 2 locations at the start. Abrams tank with 120mm and recoilless, 2 heavies with recoilless or 2 atgms shooting from the side or rear will kill it. Atgms are the most expensive option. So use one of the others.

To destroy it without unnecessary risks put something in its way, protect it with smoke and shoot from the side with the rest.

Exactly what everyone else has said. Legion heavy tanks are a horror show if you're not equipped, and as you've noticed most teams won't open fire as they can't hurt it.
I've found that smoke grenading them is reasonably effective if you have troops in cover. You can attract the Legion tank's attention long enough that you can sneak an AT unit of some kind behind them.

Abrams do well mostly, but only in that they either get lucky or they can approximately trade blows. You still want to avoid going head on though as every unnecessary hit from a heavy weapon can at best damage you & degrade your armour (which you obviously can't fix in mission), at worst wipe you out.

You could also try some AT mines on the known approaches if you have any teams that can lay them. That may be for later in the campaign though.

if you want an easy way bot left and right flank prone your RPG's ( i placed rpg squad, infantry squad, and ATGM for maximum effect) better sure to waste ammo then dying on that Legion tank LOL

Just C4 it for the win...

Depends on how fast you can fire those ATGMs\weapons but legion tanks can go down in about 2 good hits (i.e plasma RR, abrams main gun and atgm do roughly the same damage to the legion tank). All other weapons will simply do chip damage to the legion tank which will eventually deplete its armor and make it killable.
theyre not immune to rockets, just extremely resistant due to their thick armor health pool. i i believe that vehicles in this game (just like syrian warfare) have minimum AP threshold to damage the armor. im also quite sure nothing is rpg-proof even tanks; its just that the damage is dampened greatly by the armor. the armor itself still takes damage tho, just a matter of time it fails with enough salvo.

I found out that Legion tanks in Santa Fe is still easy to destroy (2 TOW hits or 1 C4), the ones since Oklahoma are much better armored and need a lot of focus fire (at least 6 ATGMs per tank to go down).

I don't actually think the stats change on them, at least I'm not aware they get special armor modules.

I'm sure that their stats are buffed in later missions because I replayed those missions a lot, the ones in later missions use ceramic armour (which is much more resistant to HEAT based ammo) vs the ones in Santa Fe using standard armour.

Their model doesn't change though?

I don't think that they bother to make separate visual models for Legion units.
