Telling people through auto-response to seek bot services is not going to fly anymore. This is not a cusomer here customer there problem, it's a company problem.
It's got to be fixed ASAP. People were walking off of this game and the comments activity coming to a near halt (discussions) showed this exodus.
I gave Saber my trust recently in another thread about game-stopping FAIL that they'd iron out the fatal errors problem that has re-emerged right away. The devs would be mad that their new content, which is excellent, was a self-own so they'd make sure the renewed and greatly improved game would return to pre-update fatal error frequency. All hands on deck time.
Now I wonder. Every day I play since the update I have a fatal error that stops the game in just 5 to 6 races.
Most likely a memory leak, either RAM or video memory. This is normal for UE :) What is not normal is that developers can't fix it and offer completely unacceptable methods to solve this problem.
Yes, I want to play more like 12-16 races before it sends me packing back to their storefront on Steam, my shoes having begun to fill with Saudi sand.
This is a problem with any software - if you allocate memory, you need to clear it periodically. This is easier to do if it is your program, your engine. If you use someone else's engine, and even one too huge as UE, there is always a possibility that memory clearing will not take place and developers will simply not know where to search.
Anyone have ideas how to track the problem?
I tried most of the provided solutions, nothing worked.
For me it is not clear how to:
-"Force run the game in DirectX 11": I added -dx11 to the command line, but dont know it it have effect
-"Update the Unreal Engine" How the hell? I have not installed it seperatley, it comes as part of game or what?
Because it's nonsense, that's why I wrote the sarcastic post about " disassemble the computer" :) The developers just don't know how to solve the problem.
Does the burden of why and what causes these constant crashes fall on customers?? Saber knows what they are, and why they are happening. They are the computer coding pros; we are pretend racers with Xbox controllers in hand. That's all we are. I'm tired of their *We're sorry that some problem that is uncommon and/or mysterious to our devs befell you, and you, and you, and you. Here's a link to us.*
Some people are still having the new cutscene intro upon first buying the game where they are passed-off to different vehicles have the game crash at the third vehicle: big truck. That problem has been addressed to death with Saber on the largest thread on the discussion forum. It has almost 300 posts and began in October of last year. If THAT happens at all it is inexcusable by this point in the game's development. That crash gave me hell for weeks. I've been here since the game's first day, the day of release.
It's too bad that their good new content is being shut down by fatal errors. Large updates oftentimes do cause old problems to arise, it seems. If that is all that has happened here then Saber will root out the bad file interaction, or whatever it is.
PS: I'd like to see more career-like structure to the game. The game needs better reward progression. In-game credits (mine) go to just trying out new vehicles. I sell one to try another in hopes that it is better. Some vehicles with what looks like good stats are dogs. I just ditched a new buggy (3 races run in it) because it slowed to 40 mph on a steep hill. I can't have that obviously.
With in-game credits I want to buy my own car with my own driver type and a personal name and wear my own clothes. I want to decorate my vehicles as I choose. I WANT TO UPGRADE MY VEHICLES, not just adjust the tuning.
Keep some real man, I guess, in real life Dakar competition away from me. Away!! I don't want to change my identity to his with every new vehicle I buy. I don't want to wear his clothes. I want my name to show at the podium, not his. I want just a tad of immersion like I am really present among the Dakar pros.
I know there are licensing complications... But I CAN buy a mudrunner or snowrunner vehicle and be ME, right? .....not some real Spaniard or French or Chinese man. I can wear my own clothes if I buy Saber's "generic" vehicles. Right? They aren't rally ready. They are ponderous old-looking from parts unknown in the place of manufacture snow and mud runner game imports. But they could be fully integrated into the Dakar game with some alterations in better more appropriate parts and enhanced performance.
Where are those Saber mud/snowrunner vehicles that could ALL be real contenders against the licensed real driver and team vehicles? Saber could make them just as fast and steer like modern racers with the best of the licensed Dakar cars that they paid to reproduce.
We've been screwed in that we can not IN ANY WAY put our own self-driver into this game, anywhere. Your name, country, and leathers/helmet are all somebody else's every time you play a new vehicle. Even the fictional drivers REPLACE YOU in driving the Snowrunner scrapheaps that are definitely not Dakar at all.
No real person or team uses these. And that Saber puts multi-ethnic race driver names and various countries of origin (for the team) is absurd.
I quit this ♥♥♥♥. I'm gone. ...Not even going to look at what my Snowrunner man I'm impersonating by wearing his leathers and helmet is predetermined to look like. All that is fake and beyond stupid.
No liveries choices on any vehicle in this game. No motivation to earn winnings; you can't buy stuff for YOUR vehicles. They aren't your's, you see!
Your name and jersey number is someone else's. The only thing that is mine is an email address. They took my email address and made that my driver's name, but the driver and team are from another country and ethnicity, most likely. It's a coincidence if your vehicle that you purchased comes from a team and driver in your country.
I live in the U.S.A. One of the five trucks imported from Snowrunner, another Saber game that is a non-racing one, is piloted and owned by a fictional American duo. When you race a Snowrunner truck all of your opponents are in Snowrunner trucks. Stupid. Before gettimng into Snowrunner junk in Dakar I had my greatest successes as a Japanese man. He had a good truck. I knew who I was in the display when I saw his name in yellow.
Now in a ragged dark green Snowrunner antique truck, perhaps Russian, with chains on the tires and an oversized bolt-on bed for no reason related to racing, I am just as fictitious as I ever have been. "I" am still an email address Saber got from Steam, but with a fake American name they chose for me.
Why am I always a ghost driver in my own career? Snowrunner vehicles are not licensed Dakar team ones, so GIVE ME THEM and give me a name.
Dakar Desert Rally is a pick a track series, pick a single vehicle, and run those. If the vehicle you bought "on the numbers" (merit expressed that way) doesn't work well enough then you are stuck with it...unless you want to sell, buy another one, and go for a trial run re-starting the series you left and returning to Qualifications.
They can have a fatal error at the bank for all I care and get ahead in the race game genre only on their renamed reinvention, in progress, of their slow-crawling industrial sims.
I give up. Uninstalling.
