Please optimize for Steam Deck before release.
Haven't finished the demo yet, but I'm having a good time. The combination of Armored Core style gameplay, Souls-esque level design, and machine girl dolls all comes together very well.

My only complaint (other than how long everything takes to reload/recharge, but that might just be an early game issue) is that the game *almost* runs well on Steam Deck. With everything on Low, save for Anti-aliasing on medium, the game hovers around 60fps. Performance drops momentarily when you boost and dramatically drops when you break environmental objects (running into wood piles drops it to 7fps, which is really funny to me).

I think with further optimization of the visuals and effects the game could be made to run quite well on portable hardware, which might help with sales since you'd be tapping into the fact that we haven't had games like Armored Core be available on handhelds since the PSP. Optimization for handheld could also open up Switch port possibilities and we all know how lucrative that can be.

That's right I'm appealing to your monetary desires to try to convince you to make the game run better on handheld lol.

This is really disheartening to read as the screen shots look like a PS3 game so I was under the impression itll run well on mid to high setings on locked 30 or something like that

its because the art style they are using in unreal 5, is incompatable with it, so unreal makes it look like ♥♥♥♥, if it didnt look like an anime it would look alot better. And this is Nitro's first 3d game, so Steamdeck compatability is not a factor right now.

No need to get defensive dude I was not demeaning the game as I think it’s one of the best mech games I have played since at least Armored Core 4 answer and 6 even though it’s an early build. This ♥♥♥♥ will slap no doubt.

But Engine aside, this game looks like Tokyo necros cutscenes, not bad, but like a PS3 game.
This is no criticism, PS3 games looked great. But it does not warrant performance this bad. Especially not the frame pacing issues.

Speaking of Tokyo Necro, almost none of the Nitro Plus games run on Linux without *serious* work arounds.
The only Nitro Plus game I have played that ran out of the box was SteinsGate lmao.
Muramasa and TN *do run* but the average non-Linux fan boy won’t get them to run anyway.

They don’t care for the Steam deck not because its their first 3D game the don’t care for Linux and never have.

But Nitro Plus should make the game steam deck compatible as their core audience, you know the Japanese fan base, loves portable gaming and the deck sold reasonably well in Japan.
Plus, this game is practically made for such a handheld device.

I am sure that the full release will run better though. Resident Evil 7s demo runs like ass as well but the main game runs substantially better.
I am just sure that it won’t run as well as it could.

yeah definetly UE5 hitting the performance for no reason, They should have sticked to UE4 or something. I love the aestetics but it looks dated to run this questionable. The deck can run a ton of lot better looking games without issues.

Well, I wasn't defensive about anything I just stated my honest opinion, and rn this is more like a Tech demo, than an actual demo, seeing as the ai can shoor through themselves, and how the hit boxes are kinda funky, O and the new exploit with the overburden system that was found and used to get to the other platform in the tree room. So maybe when it comes to full release it might have partial compatability?

Actually all you guys are wrong: it IS UE4, not 5

It's just screwed

Playing through Proton on my PC with a 5900X and 6700XT.
Shadows seem to be the a big offender. Standing at the first tree with shadows on lowest (disabled), steady capped 144 FPS. Turning to medium, ~90 FPS and high/maximum doesn't make a difference.
Explosions drop to 60 FPS even with everything set to lowest.

This is exactly what I meant yeah. Damn do I wish it wasnt unreal honestly
In general, there were no problems with the steam deck, although I set it to medium settings for longer work, but it was cool to add gyroscope control and additional aiming with it.

ah so it's not that it doesnt work on steam deck, it's that it can't run it well on steamdeck?

Might be a hardware issue, the igpu and ram might not be enough, I run a 3070 and 32gb of ram, but it still stutters when I break the crates.

It's definitely a game issue, not hardware. The game slowing down when breaking boxes is a sign that they're letting way too much happen when boxes break. It's really funny, but practically speaking there is no reason that smashing crates should drop you from 60 to 7 when there has been no meaningful improvements in crate breaking technology since Crash Bandicoot debuted on PS1

And to the other thing you said, yeah no it runs on Steam Deck, it's just not perfect, and I can see how it could be perfect if they just put a little bit more elbow grease into refining certain things so they're no so heavy on the processing load. On low settings it's 60 most of the time but debris and explosions can tank the framerate, and there's methods to squeeze more out of shadows and textures without impacting the load that much. As it is I would still play it on Steam Deck for the sake of convenience, I just know if they decide to care about optimization they could probably make it run extremely well.

The game has Vita-core energy and I think getting it to run good for deck or switch would be extremely beneficial to the game's success because of that
