About the destructible wall

I've been looking everywhere trying to find this thing until I realised it was along the big wall

I've had significant difficulties breaking it open though, the fully powered up charge sword didn't do JACK to that thing, until peoples mentionned using explosives, it APPEARS that wall has a comically high resistance to anything that isn't explosions, if you want to break it down, do think of using explosive weapons

Explosive does seem to be it's own damage type in the stats.

the devellopers intended for players to bait the railgun into shooting at that part of the wall, that would be one way to "lock" the area if the player kills the railgun before using it for that

There's a clearly weird looking wall, attacking said wall for a good bit will break it. Me, I just used my trusty Balmung and just hit it for a good few minutes and BAM, it broke.

Not quite the same, but there is a false wall (looks like a wall, but you can walk through it). Otherwise no others discovered so far that I know of.

I'm on NG+ but I can't figure out where the transparent wall is. Does the small room refer to the passageway before you reach the larger space at the beginning?

I actually suckered the Rail gun shooting massive enemy down range to shoot it for me, blew it down in just a few hits.

But that's not a surprise considering how hard his shells hit damage wise.
