These were the two builds I used to finish my first NG cycle.

This first one was for general exploration and is what I used for most of the game, Ok speed, only 39 base and 78 boost, but great handling and thrust and the long range means I can kill most things before they have a chance to fight back. While its not useful everywhere, the Celpek Trebuchet Cannon does one shot most enemies in the game from pretty long range and you don't need a full lock for it. I just straight up one-shot the boss of the Accumulation zone with a full salvo from it.

Second build I started using mostly on bosses, but also in exploration here and there once I unlocked the Pilebunker. Its a pile bunker and its the Trio, both do a disgusting amount of damage. The Takemizuchi and the Trius headsets were used at various points and generally match or slightly exceed the Trio's maximum range which is also nice. At various points I used the Epona, Ferde, Shamalforn, and Salnas mobility units depending on how I was feeling handling vs top boost speed vs jump height. All the mobility units I tried were at or above 45km/h base speed without boost which was very nice.
I just beat the game. This is my build. I basically used these weapons for most of the game. The RAVZ shotgun has incredible burst damage and it has the best firing rate and clip size (20) of any shotgun I've found. The dual Dainsleifs shoulder cannons were great for additional burst (I'd left click then "E Q" for tons of damage). Also, the Dainsleifs were 100% necessary because some enemies had ridiculously high defense to Physical-based damage. I loved the Shamalforn legs, most mobility of any legs I found. The Takemikazuchi headset had a big area and fastest computing speed, so it helped aim at any of the few fast enemies in the game. Everything else was just going for raw defensive stats.

I think the RAVZ may've spoiled me. It's lightweight and has a ton of burst, nothing else really compared to it. The only other gun I liked was the GLADIUS assault rifle (same weight, iirc, and very respectable damage). I couldn't really find any other weapons I liked. I think the Obzart rear arms are an upgrade over Dainsleifs, but they weigh too much and I notice they had a way small clip size.

I'm curious if anybody else played like I did.

The Herros RRD Humanoid body is in the Tomb of Divine Wisdom, in the middle of the pond.

SMGs (imo) just dumpster on shotguns for short range firepower, D Fams / Creo
being my personal faves, their DPS is better than the RAVZ and have far less spread, ""balanced"" by their total damage per magazine being lower than the RAVZ.
Big emphasis on the Creo making shotguns feel bad, as its 10 round burst makes it basically function like one of the lower RoF shotguns in damage, but it can fire bursts at a rate comparable to the RAVZ.

Appearance is the first priority. The rear arms are just for decoration. The Ferde headset does not take advantage of the Celpek's range.
However, the GTFR052, which can fire 3-round bursts, is highly accurate and has more firepower than its numbers suggest. The GOD will take care of the rest.
I just go for looks over actual use. If It doesn't look cool it looks weak

A tank on high heels...
And a samurai on skates.

Beat the game with the prior, albeit the secondary saw blade was a Pile Bunker.
Prefer the doubled-down saw blades, much better uptime.

The latter build was an attempt to make a peek-a-boom build with some primo oneshot power, blast radius and so on... Without melting my BP bar. Pretty efficient, albeit slower to re-fire. Doubled up on them for a faster and more potent 'introduction'.
Struggled with shielded foes, so I had to slap on a shoulder rocket with a low BP cost per-shot to help with that.
Pretty decent for kiting and slapping bosses.

This was my build for most of NG, I'm trying to play in a completely different way in NG+ because this was just too easy. The build is simple: Close quarters, keep racing around the target and rip it up with the SMG or hit it in the back with the DRK. If something needs a burst of damage or there are a bunch of cannon fodder swarmers fire the Shillis. I bring no longer ranged options but the gunship boss is the only time you can't easily close in to SMG range. Because rush-up-and-backstab is very effective I have a very low BP consumption.
