Hint on yarn puzzle?

I hate to admit defeat to a puzzle, but the closet has me stumped. I've seen a couple posts mention untangling the ball, but the only yarn ball I've found is the big red on blocking the path far to the right. I can't pull it, so I assume I'm meant to focus on the yellow yarn that is tangled across the map. I've followed it everywhere I can, but in a few places it goes up or down a path blocked by doors. I don't see any levers or buttons to open them, and the one going down I can't jump through. Nothing is prompting an interaction with Lshift... I'm stumped. Hopefully it's just a little detail I'm missing to get going on the puzzle, but for now I'm just wandering around in the closet not sure what to do
