Item locations?

I'm finding the locations being described by the quest descriptions a bit off? I didn't click that the blast site was the quarry (the location on the map seemed to show I'd gotten everything there, and I wouldn't use quarry and blast site interchangeably), now I'm being told to 'go to log' - there's no 'log' listed as a location or no log in the menus (unless I'm an idiot and aren't noticing it). I'm loving playing the game and had 28 out 8 locations scanned before realising (by looking it up) where the quarry was. Am I stupid?

EDIT: Now I'm extra lost. I figured out the log (looking it up), ran through the log about the wind power and the sand worm, which I already killed, and now I'm being told to use the wind power the recover the artefact, but where? Going back to where the worm was just respawns it, which I don't particularly want to fight again (it was rough the first time - fun, but rough)... the map isn't giving me an indication of where the artefact is, and I've cleared out the forest and snow locations, beating the dragonfly. So now I'm super stuck, not knowing where this wind power is to be used and the log (seemingly) isn't telling me anything :(

Should be yellow/orange arrows on your map and in the world telling you where you need to be.

I'll have a closer look at the map - haven't noticed that yet...

Just checked, and the only yellow/orange arrow I see indicates where you are and what direction you're facing...
