At the small flags, think you can zoom out to narrow it down to which part of it is still grey.

I’ve skipped the first one. just after the checkpoint

This was the most frustrating part of the game for me. In the big snow area, I had 3 points that all said I had 1 orb to go. Randomly happened upon one after skrrting around forever and it counted for all of the areas I hadn't finished in the snow region.

I can't help you. I can only share in your frustration.

At the mountaintop checkpoint, there's a red flag. There are 3 more flags like that, but green, each one has an orb. The green flags are visible from the map view if you zoom in.

There's one north of mountaintop, one south of mountain lab, and one at the midway point between mountain lab and the eastmost mountain range checkpoint.
