"Items" tab Incomplete on map?

The map has tabs for whether or not you've done all the scans in a place or gained all the agility orbs, but it also has an "Items" tab - I've got some places marked incomplete, e.g. the Mushroom Forest, but when I go there I can't find anything at all even if I just dig through the islands - anyone know what thats about?

so a lot of items don't show up until post credits, so those areas remain incomplete until then
