Probably because EPN is a new game. I've also heard a lot of UE5 games trigger AV software.

Just ignore it.

Many games (not just Unreal Engine) depending on your antivirus trigger false positives. You have to set your antivirus to ignore.

To be honest not many people use 3rd party antivirus software in this day and age Microsoft's security should be sufficient. I usually delete any pre installed 3rd party stuff when I buy a PC its all pretty much a con to get money from you if you want my opinion.

normally i'd agree, but a few years back i had a pretty major security breach (paypal. nuff said) that cascadded into me nearly loosing everything i have digitally. since then i've kinda gone off the deep end on security. it is no exaggeration to say most of my life is on my pc, i'm not gonna skimp on it's security ever again
"IDP.Generic" sounds like a false positive from a heuristic detection rule. When in doubt, use Virustotal[www.virustotal.com] and you can see if there's anything substantial, or if it's just a few antiviruses throwing false positives.

Quoting myself from last time someone had this issue:

Antiviruses often aren't a very exact science - most of them use "heuristic" methods to look for things that MIGHT be a virus/trojan/malware/etc., even if they don't have the fingerprint of a known virus (that's how they try to detect new/unknown ones). Some of them are quite overzealous and often mistake anything they don't recognize as a potential virus (a "false positive").

No one wants false positives, so antiviruses often have a big, long whitelist of known safe applications to not interfere with. So when new programs or games come out, the devs often have to get antivirus companies to add it to their whitelists before the antivirus stops trying to automatically quarantine it or block it from running. Happens all the time.

Norton's been getting false positives on IDP.Generic files on a lot of games. Seems to be something to do with Norton not liking an update to the Unreal Engine. It's been all over lately, which basically confirms it's a Norton issue and not a virus, since it's extremely unlikely a bunch of mostly unrelated games all went rogue at roughly the same time, and something happening to Unreal itself is unlikely.

I'd bet Norton isn't the only one with this problem though.
