step 1 : this is clunky
step 2: I hate this and I have no idea why people like this
step 3: hey the new demo for the next monster hunter game is out. maybe ill try that.
step 4: wow this is amazing
step 5: maybe the other game I thought was bad and clunky is good
step 6: wow this is good too
step 7: that's funny there is a tab in my wallet that says "for monster hunter"
to be frank I am one of the few monster hunter fans that have played most of the series and will still argue that the controls are clunky. I think there is still room for improvement, but the recent games continue to try to smooth the controls out much to the dismay of so called "veteran hunters" but I love the series warts and all. maybe this one doesnt resonate with you and that's fine. maybe the next one will catch you. maybe it wont.
Monster Hunter Games always like this
The series truly went downhill after 4 when the OG director left
Now it's all about random spark effects, it really looks like a chinese rip off of monster hunter with every new game adding random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that no one asked for that only make the game control worse
but you can mostly if not fully turn that off in sunbreak demo irc..... at least a lot of them
but iceborne made you start every fight with every weapon by turning the monster 3 times to trigger agitator and then tenderizing the head.
dont get me wrong. i'd like to see oldschool combat coming back in mh6, but the wirebug is far superior to the clutchclaw. even though we kinda got the stupid clagger back.
I don't mind the clutch claw combos/altered moves but tenderising was def annoying. And getting agitator proc is just more damage so I didn't mind that strat tbh. BUT clagger is super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, I've missed so many TCS to that lol. Not to mention the claw itself is kinda buggy in that it grabs wrong spots at times. But I still prefer this to the basically mandatory bugs in Rise, and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forced wyvern ride. I like hitting monsters not riding them lol. Also another thing about Rise is that it made healing even less tense than World (which was already pretty safe) by doing instant+regen and the wirefall mechanic. That said, I do like the wire for mobility in terms of getting to a monster faster. Less time running to it is always better. Idk, I've just felt Rise strays a bit too much from the grounded and chunky feeling of MH that I think World still had. 4U is usually what I use as baseline in comparison, cause it's my fav so the more like it a game is the more I like it. But not even 4U was safe from ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gimmicks like wystones
you can turn off wyvernride in the demo lmao...........
I love 4U but Rise was a sorely needed evolution for the series. Guns are way more smooth to play, wirebugs are great for movement, movement is fast and responsive in general. The only downsides to Rise imo are some of the effects looking kinda ass and rampages. Thankfully rampages are gone and monster riding is optional now (you aren't forced into it anymore on attacks). World was good, but it had a lot of issues, like movement being sluggish, clutch claw, levels that were complex in a bad way, some questionable quest design decisions and guiding lands.
I think every MH Game since 3rd gen needs some gimmick that they get rid off in the next sequel lmao.
