Prove it.
whats to prove? just only use things that were in the original monster hunter and use nothing else. if all of iceborne can be beaten without using a weapon you sure as hell can beat rise using whatever you personally want to use.
You can handicap yourself as much as you want, the only thing you'll accomplish is a subpar experience as the game was built around those systems.
The reason the "gimmicks" of past installments worked to an extent were because:
1. Hunter arts and styles worked on a much more limited and costly resource than wirebugs, meaning missing or haphazardly throwing them out was a serious risk and time loss.
2. Every new installment of the series added genuinely fitting moves to the weapon that expanded on their identity instead of taking away from it. You have a couple of bad eggs in there like gen lance, but for the most part, most of the additions to weapons throughout the series added a level of nuance to their playsytle.
I don't see this in rise. It's very overcentralized and it wants each weapon to do multiple jobs well, which isn't the point when you have 14 weapons to choose from.
thats really not how the concept of personal enjoyment works. you seem like your too invested in the meta way than the most fun way for you.
Actively fighting against the game's design choices isn't personal enjoyment, but self-flagellation. You can fight a Teostra in Rise the same way you did in MHFU, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be as efficient as someone who makes use of the (bloated) mechanics in Rise to their fullest.
I also think that the cornucopia of mechanics they've added is detrimental to their idea of accessibility, since back then a new player only had to learn positioning and skills, but now there are much more things to keep in mind.
Filtered.
there it is again. efficiency.
your logic makes absolutely no sense. either you have fun being efficient in which case achieving that efficiency should be fun for you, or you would rather have fun playing another way which you refuse to do.
the gimmick in this game is the bugs, they are literally only linked to the bumpers if controller, and like 2 keybinds on KB,the ui is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? theres options for that
If you want less gimmicks stuff and isn't happy when told then don't use them cause "muh efficient damage",don't complain in the first place and enjoy old mh then? Like literally, what answer you expect?
