although I am averse to experimentation. Im the type to keep trying the same thing again and again thinking itll work differently this time XD
It's pretty easy to miss, I didnt understand until a couple of runs in.
When you enter the relevant combats look for a greyed out button near the bottom right, it's near the round/corruption timer. If you hit that button it will allow you to win one of the three items needed, but raises the enemies HP by 25% to make the fight harder. Also, hitting it once does not keep it in effect for the rest of the run, just that one fight. You can hit that button in 1 elite fight, 1 regular/star fight & 1, boss fight. getting a piece for each. If you reach and beat the final boss while having collected all three pieces you will get to face the true boss. think slay the spire if youve played it.
you may not always want to hit the button as son as its available, because the extra difficulty might make you lose the match and are a little bit gimped for the rest of the run from losing out on fight rewards. Sometimes its easier to try get them early in the run when the enemies are easier, but you also may not have gotten a good build yet so you want to leave it till later, just depends on how your run is going.
Thank you very much for your very detailed explanation. Yes, I had the feeling that I had seen a button you described before, but strangely enough I couldn't find it again. Perhaps the easiest difficulty level doesn't have this function? Anyway, I really appreciate your kindness!
Exactly half-way through the first map, the button will appear ( next to the rage button ). It's noticeable when you are new but if you have finished the game, you might not notice it.
Hover over the button it and it tells you that you need to fight one star fight, one elite fight and one boss fight ( with the button activated, to make the fight more difficult ). I would try and do it within the first couple of maps.
If you win the fight, you will see something new pop-up. Click on it and you will see something new next to the relics.
Giachi scales relative to shield amount. You need to supplement him with mana regen or other shield characters. However, his damage is relative to the damage his defense prevents (essentially a reflect effect) and his defense raises relative to shield. So you can end up in situations where he's out-DPSing your actual DPS characters, especially if you have some leech so enemies never get to target shield. For example, Book of Mystery + leech item + X with mana regen/defensive stats is both usually impossible to kill and out-DPSes most non-broken DPS builds.
Jalen allows you to trigger shield abilities on all characters, and is one of the few heroes that can buff AD on other characters. Importantly, his AD buff is cumulative. His main problem is that he's pretty awful early due to restrictive mana cost and weak base numbers, but if you get him off the ground, it's not unusual to be boosting +100 AD every couple seconds consistently.
