Performance Issue
Since the latest update the game runs at about, without exaggeration, 3-4 FPS. Does anyone else has the same problem?

It's an issue for me as well. It's not as bad as 3-4fps and is probably in the 20s, but I'm still early in the game so maybe that's why it doesn't perform as badly.

2.4 runs smoothly for me, and I've downgraded to it until the issues with 2.5+ are fixed.

There is definitely a significant lag in the new version; did not compare Ram demand, but would guess, that that went up too. Not a good state for a game, that is expected to run along in the background for extended times.
I hope, it's just a piece of unclean internal programming. If it is somehow related to Unity, it gets much harder to work around. Let's see; I'd expect a few more patches for the update to come, maybe this one gets attention too.

Sadly I already deleted my 2.4 local save, when I saw that the game does not crash right away, so downgrading is not an option here.

Well, whatever the case may be, hopefully it'll be fixed/optimized in the next patch or iteration. As it stands now, the game has turned completely unplayable for me.

I had the same problem. Reinstallation helped

I've got a slightly different performance issue. The graphics for some reason are incredibly stuttery, going slow and then skipping forward constantly. Anyone got a fix for this one or is it just a wait for them to sort something out on their end?

None of the tester's computer specs are having this issue, some specs might be useful, also make sure you have attack speed at an acceptable level if using nuke, as nuke with high speeds still lags due to reward gain, also incorporate scavenger, both can be accessed thru the cog menu at the top right of the battle screen

I admit, I am running on relatively cheap/old technology. Looks like the CPU is the bottleneck. The game takes about 40% of my 3,6 Ghz Intel 4160. Not an issue, when it is running by itself, but as an idle game, you'd expect it to be more of a background thing while you got other stuff going.
And no, I am not overpacing the battle spiral. Running on cycles between 0.8 and 4,5 seconds. Also just checked; the difference between having the spiral on my current max speed (0,004) and having it off is only about 3%.

I'm also currently running the game on an old rig: Win 10, Intel Core 2 Quad 9550, 4Gb RAM, GeForce 650Ti. Prior to the latest patch the game was running absolutely perfect. I've already tried to verify the game's files integrity and reinstalling the game itself, to no avail. When it's running, CPU fluctuates between 20-30%, so I don't believe this to be the issue. The game also "eats" about 300-400 Mb of memory, which is non that much, either. One peculiar thing I've noticed - when the game is running, it's the only process in the Task Manager with Very High power usage status.

As I wrote above. Reinstallation helped me. I have an average PC. Ryzen 1600, 16GB 3200, GTX1060, NVME. Unable to play before reinstallation. At the start there were just drops. After 2 hours of idle (I went shopping), at peak it was 2GB RAM and 99% CPU...

Even if the actual performance issues cannot be reproduced by the programmers and testers, maybe it would help to compare the amount of required ressources for version 2.4 and 2.5 with each other. Something in the new version might be munching harder on the system than before.

Sorry for the late reply, I had switched to the 2.4 branch for a while, but now I'm back on the main branch.
My machine's old, but should be plenty for this sort of game:
Core i7 6700 3.41GHz, at about 25% total utilisation, 15% of which is Idle Spiral, spread out across all the cores - no obvious bottlenecks.
GTX 970, 5% utilisation, 4% of which is Idle Spiral.
16GB RAM, barely touched by Idle Spiral.
The resource usage was about the same on 2.5.0 and on 2.4.x.
When I initially tried 2.5.0, both Scavenger and Nuke mode were OFF, and my attack speed was fairly low (TTA perhaps somewhere around 0.02, i.e. 10x above the cap), but the framerate on the main spiral was in the teens.
Currently I am on 2.5.3, 100x Scavenger, Nuke OFF, and framerates are better than they were on 2.5.0, but still not as smooth as on 2.4.x. Granted, 2.4.x wasn't perfectly smooth either, but it was smoother than this.
The visual lag is and was present even if I stop battling entirely, so I don't think it's a matter of loot generation or anything like that.

It's worth noting that Battle Spiral seems to be rendering fine (at least no worse than 2.4.x), it's specifically the main spiral itself that's choppy, especially when zooming in/out. I am using the Simple Violet style (cosmetically). Scrolling through Theories, which was never smooth, also feels worse on 2.5.3 compared to 2.4.x (I didn't check on 2.5.0, hadn't unlocked them then).

The game seems to be using Unity now, which has a notorious issue with having its update tick default to 50Hz instead of 60, which leads to a choppy look even at high framerates due to uneven temporal aliasing, I wonder if that could be part of the issue?

Edit: 2.6.0 seems to address the performance issues effectively, thank you! Even scrolling Theories is pretty smooth now.

I have to wonder how far people are to have those issues. Global steam achievements are less than 2% of players have reached tier 27, it's also about where i am after a few months checking every now and then. Fps is around 20-30, which is still quite terrible.

You occasionally just make tons of progress all at once when you reach certain breakpoints. An example of my most recent was the patch dropping which reworked a couple systems. I spent like 1.5-2 hours farming the new Varman and because of that, I jumped from like T84->T94.

As far as I remember, I was around T60-T62, when I had to stop playing. Prior to the 2.5 patch the game ran at fairly comfortable 40-60 FPS. Once the 2.5 rolled out, I've stopped playing as the game has literally turned into a barely functional slideshow.

T81 and I just log in quickly to update things and close the game asap.
While I appreciate the beautiful spirals, I really wish developers consider disabling the graphics and improving the nuke mode to make the game less CPU hungry.
