I feel like the developers didn't agree on the concept of combat. In the beginning, you are introduced to a very "unique" Auto-Attack system, one where you lock on to a singular enemy, and the computer takes care of the attacking. You just handle the movement. I didn't like this system then, and I still don't know (but maybe you would). What really gripes me is what happens in the mid-later stages of the game. So far, you can only focus on one enemy at a time (Auto-Lock, very clunky imo), and when that enemy decides to attack, you either have to press the evade or guard button. Otherwise, their attacks will hit no matter how far away you are from them.

Then you get introduced to the bosses with "minions".Essentially multiple enemies in a single arena for a boss fight. Auto-lock really shows it's ugly rear right here. Wanna lock on to the boss? Too bad, you locked on to his pet dog. Try do it again? Whoops, you locked onto his goldfish. The only way to semi-reliably lock on to bosses is to hover and click over it with the mouse, which itself is sometimes inaccurate.

Then, you have the combo system. I feel like it could be made much more robust on PC. This game originally came out on mobile, so i understand how the devs implemented the current skill selection system, but combos are far too important to use only separate skills. Combos work by chaining a couple of skills together, adding certain attributes to certain skills, and said combo activates when you initiate the first skill you chose to be the start of the combo. Problem here is that you cannot A} Cancel skills, B} Time the following skills with a button, you have to run around for a bit (so you could time the 2nd skill activation in regards to the horrid auto-attack) and let go of the movement buttons to let auto-attack activate the skill. There, sometimes i feel the auto-attack has a mind of its own, sometimes your combos don't activate at the precise timing.

Barring those two problems, this game is actually quite enjoyable. Artstyle is cute, unique, and actually consistent. Story is okay (if you really care; I don't like it very much). Music is great, but without music, this game is basically silent. Barely any SFX or ambience. And even though I truly despise to combat at times, getting a successful katana parry to deal 150k damage is an unbeatable feeling, especially if it one shots the boss.

Overall, I think that in terms of combat, Toram online wants to be Dark Souls, but got developed from a DnD base. Combat demands skill, but in the end you're still at the mercy of RNG.
