Ugh, I hate giving this a negative review, as it's more neutral. But after loving their other games, this one feels like a let down. It's a run and gun platformer. But an extremely *basic* one. There is very little variety in enemies, the hidden collectibles are rarely hidden deeply, the enemy placement leaves a lot to be desired, and most levels are broken up into small sections instead of large, continuous areas. Heck even the menu font feels like a place holder they just left in. Really, the only perk here is the sprite work, which as usual from Gamuzumi is top notch. Otherwise just lots of wasted potential.

Give it a shot if you're in the mood for a really simple run and gun platformer. Just bear in mind it won't be breaking any ground at all.

Crystal Goddess is an Adult Platformer where you play a guardian goddess, Azura who after her watch over Emerald Grove, gets her place broken into and her crystals stolen by a rival “goddess” Violet Vixen.


Right off the bat getting the obvious out of the way, as an adult game it is best to just forget that it is one as there’s very very little adult content here apart from the characters sprites (admittedly is small). All the H-related stuff you’ll find here are cards scattered amongst the levels that will show some H-stuff but one that is just photos and isn't good and on par with the artstyle of the game itself.

As you move through the levels you will fight off a few variations of enemies and avoid their attacks and the traps in your way with your basic attack or with your skill attack that charges over time and will help you in overcoming the various challenges along the way. Enemies will have a chance to drop some items that can heal you should you need it. You’ll encounter friendly characters in need of saving. These characters are portrayed being “trapped” in a sexual act/manner. Rescuing them will give you either healing item or a piece of a heart that once completed will increase your maximum health.


In terms of the gameplay, Crystal Goddess needs some polishing. Even though it is not stated, if you have a controller, use it as you need it. On mouse and keyboard the game is almost unplayable. The red flag shows up the moment you’re in the main menu. Your inputs either don’t register or register very late. Once in game, every movement you input has a second or two delay. As a precision platformer, this is not favourable as you have a small window for mistakes.

One may get used to this lag input after some time but from the off it is frustrating as at times you have a small tile you can move on and then also dodge an enemy or a projectile before you have to jump but with this delay, you have to have some “buffer” time before your input is carried out so you either have to be in constant motion or you’ll get hit. And at times you can’t be in constant motion as you would have to wait for the right time to carry out that action.


With a controller fortunately, there isn’t a problem weirdly enough and it plays as it should. No delay and everything feeling immediate and crisp. That is till you realise that your hit box is bigger than your character sprite and some encounters seem to not have a way out of the way to avoid dying. So having an almost full health for boss fights especially is a must.

Visually during gameplay, Crystal Goddess is a good looking game that is very well animated and has a good artstyle. You can clearly see the talent the developer has visually. The few enemy variations are well animated and have their own track patterns and such. The friendly characters you rescue are well animated and are probably the best H-scene that’s in the game.


Crystal Goddess is a missed opportunity for an adult centered platformer that is bogged down by its inconsistencies in it’s gameplay, controls & lack of juicy bits that it clearly has potential for., which is a shame as it is visually a good looking game. Too bad it does not play as well as it should for now. Hopefully this get’s the care and polishing it needs to tighten things up eventually.

I had this game on my wishlist for quite a while, but it was worth the wait. It's simple, entertaining and cute, Megaman style action. Reminds me a little bit of one of my favourite H side-scrollers, Kabopuri!!. I'd just add a few more sound effects to the maids in distress, if you know what I mean. I'm looking forward to more Otterside Games releases.

So I'm playing this game on mouse and keyboard. And I'm not sure if this is just me, but there seems to be a bug of some kind with inputs on mouse and keyboard (Again, could be just me, and I don't have a controller or anything else to test this with) But I've noticed some sort of input lag. Example, moving to the right by pressing right arrow, it wont move me to the right, right away, and it'll take a few seconds to register. Also, scrolling through menus, pressing keys sometimes doesnt work to scroll through the menu, and holding them down doesnt work either. Mashing it until it works seems to be the best option.

In terms of H scenes, I haven't really encountered many, but again I also haven't gotten that far into the game due to this input bug i seem to be having.

If I could leave a neutral review, I would.

This game looks great and plays even better. It's a little reminiscent of Eroico, but instead of being a hack n slash, it's a run n gun. Highly recommended.

No es solo un juego con un poco de contenido H, en realidad es un juego bien hecho, los controles responden de maravilla (el teclado y raton ahora también) No es excesivamente dificil ni largo, pero tiene lo mejor de megaman, con distintas habilidades, es adictivo porque siempre avanzas, y si lo encuentras demasiado facil., siempre se puede poner en dificil o no mejorar las armas. Despues de jugar 9 horas y terminarlo en normal y dificil este juego es una maravilla, por 5€ es perfecto para un fin de semana

Going to give this game thumbs up with a few caveats. Most of the negative reviews are because the game is buggy on mouse and keyboard. I played it fine with a PS4 controller. It was very responsive. Most people say controllers work fine.

Gameplay wise, it's fine. Game takes about 2 hours to beat on normal. Not sure for hard mode, and since I don't think it unlocks anything, I'm not going to go find out unless there is an update with more content. It's a basic Megaman styled platformer. I got excited about being able to upgrade my abilities, but it just ups your damage per shot. That's good, but doesn't change up the gameplay any.

The reason to buy this game at all is because it's a non visual novel H game. But to be honest, the H content is fairly lacking. The sprite work is great, and I would have appreciated it if they had used it more. The gallery you unlock is just poorly drawn still images of random characters. I'd have honestly preferred if they weren't in the game as they lower it's overall quality.

Would have been better if you collected the animations of the girls you save throughout the level. If you want to see those again, you'll have to play through the levels again. There are 5-7 different ones and they look pretty good. Just loops of the character and a couple of the bosses idle animations would have been great. There is no real end game H reward either.

The music is there. A couple of the songs are kinda catchy, but the rest are fine. Only reason I bring this up I've played at least one H games with an unlistenable soundtrack.

This is what I would consider a very traditional platformer. ( which isn't a bad thing )

Content is not super hardcore. No communication from the developer yet.

This is the kind of game you'd find on Newgrounds in 2006, it may look good but it's really not that great in execution. Thankfully it didnt run much so I wont bash it too much but i'd find something else.
