What's a good way to place your buildings?
What I mean is rough templates, like how should housing be placed (grid?), should industry be placed abroad or close enough to directly supply the food market? Share your experiences, thank you

i went for money spending, after unlocking chariots, i just use them, first artisans then monks but only if needed, since a lot are needed.
i place resources far away, on another plow of land, then use chariots to send goods where its needed, while building temples in the city... still it's a bit hard considering limited space, that's why i usually place the best roads in the city, so the temples would've bigger range.

Bear in mind that depending on the map, people will have different needs, so plan ahead according to that. I like to place the food distribution center in the middle, with roads departing from each cardinal point. Houses will typically spread West and East among 4 rows to begin with, adding two roads to connect the superior and inferior rows. The commodity supplier will generally be below the food distribution, and further south the donation building. From there the design will evolve according to needs, and I will end up adding the best roads to gain what reach I can. Food and commodities will be placed elsewhere and transported in, to save space.

Edit: uploaded a screenshot. You can see things are a bit different from what I described (iirc the donation spot needed to be more to the center). Forgot to mention to pay close attention to avalanches and place forester asap, but only connect the roads when you need wood. You can also see that I forgot to connect the road to the Eastern bridge.

Thanks, the optimal food market is a thing I really struggle with. I figured there could also be a good layout where only two sides of the food market are connected? Sadly, there is barely any content out there about Laysara.

Some buildings have much larger ranges then others. Food Markets is one of the largest but shortest range "critical" buildings and you should build each home around it's limitations. Try to make all main "city" streets tier 3 once you can afford it. It will drastically improve Food Markets range. Try to also not overlap Food markets to the best of your ability (as some locations it's just not possible) if you going to put 2 towns next to each other.

The mandala is one of the hardest to fit parts of and town or city. While it's range is very good (at tier 3 roads) it's a very awkward shape not lending itself to normal road networks. Try to avoid destroying vital road routes to your towns and place it somewhat close to the center to get the best effects. But it's entirely possible to put near the edges of towns and still cover a large amount.

Commodity suppliers cover entire cities on their own at tier 2 roads. I tend to place them near the center but you could place them on the edge and they will still overall work.

Bath houses seem difficult to handle but they have insane range. Tier 3 roads they cover almost or even an a entire zone.

I'm not the best yet and I'm sure true pros will shank me on the above. But it should at least get you a start.

I play on the hardest difficulty (Veteran).
If there is enough space this is usually how I organize housing blocks:
(Note: This is two blocks side by side).
