You honestly think sixty million Steam users have arachnophobia? Spiders are like one of the most common enemies in video games, I'd be more surprised if an action/fantasy game didn't have them.

I'm sorry for your arachnophobia, but that's a really rude way to say this.

I do believe you're vastly overestimating the amount of people this will affect. A lot of people don't like spiders in real life, but a very small percentage of people have a severe enough phobia that they can't look at them in a game... not nearly half. Maybe 5% or less.

Maybe if you're kind instead of rude, the developers would consider adding an option to replace spiders with something else.

Though, I want to ask.. if you're talking about the things you can see in the background of this discussion board:
1. How are you here to write this? Surely it must have been terrifying.
2. They don't look that much like spiders to me.. More like some kind of alien octopus, with 4 (not 8) long noodley arms.. or squids, or something.

It smells like you're just looking for free steam points from clown awards.. but if your phobia is real, I sympathize and would be curious to see how you respond.. if you can stand looking at the background of the community page again to write it.

A giant invincible spider I could understand, most if not all games feature giant spiders that you can best in combat. Nothing says face your fear than destroying it in a video game, I have a fear of heights and sadly we haven't managed that as a defeatable enemy.
