Untamed isles WILL fall into the Fun to play and earn next to nothing (the Devs main income will be from cosmetics not crypto) but its NOT meant to be a game where you sell everything. It's meant to be a game where if you find a cosmetic you are not keen on you can sell it to some one who is. Or if you breed up a good line of tames or get lucky with a House deed or an Alpha Tame.
They also brought up a very important point with the items, Untamed isles doesn't really have that. The items that you can attach to Tames are normally one use only (you can try to salvage them if you are lucky) but they items themselves are very much like the legendary items from Fallout 4 - they all have some sort of added feature, so you really can farm up particular items, or even particular tames. Each breeding a Tame does increases the cost the next breeding for that Tame, and no, there is no store item you can buy to speed up or decrease that cost.
The Devs HATE pay to win. I can't stress that enough. It kills the userbase, it kills games. This is a studio that wants to grow. They already have two other departments that are in the early phase of two other games, they want Untamed isles to be their flagship game.
ok that still does not explain why the game need crypto at all.
you still could have an ingame economy like in every other game.
whats the point of having crypto i don´t get it.
the thing is a good game doesn´t need a system like that.
and this just splits players between people who own something and people who do not.
They really are trying something new here. Whether it works or not, only time will tell. I am just providing information so people can make informed choices for what they feel is right for them. Most people prefer to see gameplay and others playing anyway before they pick up a game.
Maybe come and check back in October, or more likely January when the game has had its first couple of updates, see what state its in and how its progressing, or don't. This is a niche game to begin with.
they are not the first ones who are trying a game based on crypto nft´s or play to earn.
you make it seem you have some kind of disadvantage if you don´t have "enough" time.
no you don´t!
you just do not progress as fast but that doesn´t mean you have any disadvantages.
i still think your logic is wrong or you just don´t understand well enough how cryptos and or nft´s work.
everything about cryptos and nfts is problematic.
there is 0 benefit in having stuff like this in a game that could not be achived otherwise.
it just makes everyhing unnecessarily more complicated as it need´s to be without any advantage to the players.
oh no youre wrong i had interest in the game but seeing that crypto and nft´s and play to earn is a thing ring´s every alarmbell.
but yeah we will see.
I agree for the most part. Most crypto/NFT games that have come out have been scams or just money pumping games that aren't fun. But I think the big difference between those games and this one is that you aren't earning crypto directly. You are earning in-game assets that you can sell to other players. So basically it's real money trading that is sanctioned by the company rather than a third party marketplace. RMT happens in all MMOs, but this team is going to regulate it rather than ban it. It's a unique take that I personally haven't seen before. Maybe it has but I can only speak from my own experience.
Because they've stated you can trade items to each other using in-game currency instead, if most/all players ignore the crypto aspect, it won't affect anything. If you want to make 10 cents off of a skin, it's up to them. If the game is fun, with or without crypto, that's all I care about. As long as crypto and NFTs are optional, I'm hoping the game becomes successful.
i have a very hard time to get the difference if there is one between this game and Axie infinity
I've played Axie and there are some pretty big differences between Axie and what THIS game is planning on doing:
In Axie Infinity, you NEED to spend real money on axies if you want the ability to (make money) while using them. I used parenthesis because making money is based a variety of factors outside of any one player's control. You can play Axie for free, but the (play to earn) part is largely disabled.
In Untamed Isles, you buy the game and can play it in full just like everyone else. You don't have to spend money either (outside of small gas fees I believe) to turn what you've earned in-game into something you can sell.
In short, most play-to-earn games are fairly close to a ponzi scheme that is reliant on an ever-growing playerbase. Untamed Isles on the other hand is nothing like that since its entirely optional AND doesn't require a moderate to large initial investment like Axie to actually start earning.
Ultimately, I could be wrong so I'd say wait until the game releases, but I've been a part of the community for quite some time so I think my info is up to snuff
