Conqueror achievement
I didn't know about Conqueror achievement and ascended to Tier II. Will I get Conqueror 1 if I complete Conqueror 2?

You can (ab)use babel tower for that

The answer to your question is no you won't get conqueror 1 if you complete conqueror 2... but I will try the babel tower technique :D sounds interesting

Ok so I tried this, it seems a lot more difficult to get conqueror 1 on babel than it is to get conqueror 2 on normal...

And that's not because of babel but because you get a lot fewer secrets so can't upgrade villages, I'm also suspicious why the map on babel scenario is tier2 size?? I thought it would be smaller :)

Last but not least, I just conquered the entire babel map on my tier 2 save and didn't get the achievement... though there is an unreachable tile (I think, hard to tell if it's a tile or just something visual) so I'm not sure if this is what's causing it or if it just doesn't trigger on babel....

Do you have any advice for trying to get the Conqueror I achievement right before ascending into Tier 2?

--> I see 3 points that can be improved (heroes, general stragegy and starter perks), but there are probably more; I'm glad for any advice that I can get.

Heroes:
My highest (law) hero level is 45 (not sure if that's the maximum in Tier 1; I can't level him up any further with the recipe) and he got 530% sustainment (and 110% faster recharge). My other heroes are less useful (I like the unique belief hero Leonidas, because be raises militias to infantry combat strength, but I'm willing to swap my heroes - I just don't see useful traits on the other ones).
Well, I got a lvl 43 belief hero with +4.4 clicks per second, but I don't feel any difference to my other belief hero with gold and research per second (which I prefer in early game). Does the hero click on it's own or does it boost my own clicks only?

Strategy and starter perk:
My general stragegy is to build as many 6-point-villages as possible for the 3 bonus worker and I concentrate on food (every non-mountain or non-village tile is a field and I start with better fields perk. Sometimes I also pick better mines for more iron; I got a few hundret ascension points in reserve, so I could go nuts for a real good attempt). My only wonder is the great library for better cooldowns.
I place my first settlement on a tile where it doesn't interfere with future 6-point-villages, so it's mostly inside larger mountan ranges or at certain stretches of coast.
I ignore the 2 off-branches in my tech tree with the nemesis, because I found the unlocked technology underwhelming in the past in exchange for regular attacks.

Results so far:
I can conquer around half the world map before rising my population for additional workers is getting more and more troublesome (I'm around 1.5 million population around that time when my food yield is negative despite trading food for gold all the time. My sustainment in the end is at 2905%). The world map just feels too large on Tier 1.

edit: I started building fortresses on most mountain tiles (those that are close to farms in order to give them the 6-point-upgrade), upgraded more heroes and also took the second food-related starter perk (more food per free worker) and now I can push my population quite a bit (12k food production right now at 20mil population).

Here's what helped me get the Conqueror II achievement (still working on I; not having luck in babel so I've started a second game)

Heroes:
Look for regular leaders that grant bonus workers; tho I'm sad to say I've gone through about 150 leaders and haven't found a single one with that perk, so I'm not sure if that ability got removed or just seriously nerfed. If you can find them, at level 45 they will give you +3 workers, for a total of 12 bonus workers which will let you take about another 15-30 tiles, depending on how favourable terrain is for villages.

That being said, if you cannot find leaders with the bonus worker ability, I really like Caesar and Cleopatra. Then it's a matter of taking the leader with the highest sustainment, and an economy hero you like. Someone with bonus research is really nice to kick things off.

Starter perks:
I like Farmer, Smith, Trader, and Expansionist. I take Corrupt, Unruly, Backwards, but feel free to use lotuses instead. Unruly is the only one worth substituting, as there's nothing quite like a 30 second crisis before you even have spearmen researched. If you have trouble managing your early crisis, skip it. You're really not going to notice a huge difference with Corrupt or Backwards, so those are freebies in my opinion.

And of course your aim is to colonize the map, so it's unlikely you'll have lots of free workers, making the other perks so-so choices in the long run. They're pretty nice in the beginning when you're getting established but falls off as you expand your borders and deplete your worker pool. It really comes down to how many lotuses you want to burn and how much you think the perks will benefit you.

Strategy:
Don't be afraid to re-roll the map. You need favourable terrain, and some of the mountain chains make it impossible; and if there's a little island tile detached from the continent, you're probably doomed. I believe you have to control ALL tiles.

Take the time to plan out your villages when you see a map you like. Something that looks good at first glance might might not give you enough ideal terrain for villages.

Open up your nemesis research branches. There are 2 that double the food output of wheat fields, cows especially are amazing. I don't think it's a big deal if you don't get the food perks but, it'll probably make your life incredibly easier if you can.

Don't be afraid to turn off buildings to get extra workers to help you expand. The Great Library needs 3 workers; that could be the difference to getting another village, and then you get your 3 workers back!

Only use 1 key on a village and only if you really really really need it and are really really really sure that you don't need to move the village.

Tech up SLOWLY! Expand as far as you can on the tech level you're on before advancing to the next age. If you rush ages you're gonna have a bad time; establish all the villages you can, get all the soldiers you can. A handy rule of thumb that has helped me: If a crisis needs 4 soldiers to beat, the next age is going to need 8, and the age after that will need 16... so on and so on until you can unlock the next unit tier. It's important to have enough industry to support your army, as each unit tier is about 50% more expensive than the previous.

Farm the opposing civs for keys. Do diplomacy (and occasionally war to reset the diplomacy) to steal their keys; I think each one has 1-3 keys, I only discovered this in my previous run but, so long as there is a key icon over the capital, they have keys to steal. Once you see the key icon is no longer displayed you can destroy the civ.

thanks for the advice :)

I do reroll maps at the beginning to avoid those tiny islands and a hopefully favorable map (I don't spend a lot of time analyzing though or calculating how many perfect villages I could build).

I just found out that you can use 5 keys to skip the nemesis, I always thought that keys only work on regular locks.
I was super lucky and found "wheat" in this run; now my food production is exploding and I had to destroy a central 6-star-field temporarily to survive the overflow ;)

The heores I use are Loenidas (belief), Hammurabi (leadership), Adam Smith (economy) and a nice rare law hero. I never found Caesar (I think I did in the demo, but no in the full version),

I rerolled many heroes recently to optimize mine and I also didn't see any +worker on them, but that would definitely be an insanely good roll.

just got conqueror 1 on babel map with a tier 2 save so yep definitely a good trick :)

The dev should really add an option to return to T1 and deactivate all T2 perks. Option likely on the ascension map when you select to move on, or on the world gen screen.

I'll give Babel another go, tho may have to do a bit of farming.
Just got conqueror 1 on babel very easily due to Great Lighthouse wonder.
Ogmok Jan 27 @ 2:09am
what does the lighthouse wonder do?

I'll most likely abandon my run soon and try it on Babel after I got all Tier 2 upgrades and hero levels, because I'm close to 200mil population now and I'll need 26 more worker after hitting every single last spot for 6-point-villages and after unbinding all my workshops.

I simply don't want to try to reach billions in population on Tier 1 in order to get those 26 workers (the next milestone is 208mil and the following one is 270mil)

Gives extra workers percent per wonder. I deleted the autonomy building and built a second wonder. You need to unlock lighthouse first, not sure if you have it.

thanks for the answer, so it's percentage per wonder in your city and not something like stonehenge where you can repeatedly trigger a social crisis for a benefit (like an additional lotus point).

Lighthouse is on the top left part of the Tier 2 ascension tree, so you can't have it in Tier 1.

It does sound nice to have for this achievement, especially if you can have high level heroes and 10-20% more workers due to wonders in a tower of babel scenario.

I am in tier 2 and got the conqueror one achievement in babel. I think its 10% extra workers with just lighthouse and 15% with a second wonder.
thanks for the advise :)
