[FORM CLOSED] Submit YOUR Weapon/Shield/Item/Refinement ideas to be put in the game!
Hey everyone!

A lot of you have had the chance to start and even finish your first playthroughs, now I'd love to hear what YOU want to see in the game. Use the form below to submit ideas for weapons, shields, items, and refinements!

Submission Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmjhQK2g-cEuCEqySanMlW8urCU0OgLDRoRUMnXc0hsN8ELw/viewform?usp=header

You can also share your ideas in the comments in this thread to help inspire others and get feedback yourself!

After a week or so, I'm going to compile them all into a list, and put it up for people to vote on their favorites they want to see in the game. I'm also planning on the following special categories to vote on:
- Most Historically Accurate: The suggestion with the closest resemblance to how it's used in the real world.
- Most Unique: The suggestion with the most original idea.
- Most Cursed: The suggestion with the most interesting drawback or double-edged effect.

At the end of the voting duration, I'll take the 2-3 most popular from each category (weapon, shield, item, and refinement), as well as a few from the special categories, and implement them into the game (I reserve the right to make tweaks for balancing)!

Excited to see what you all come up with!

I really think DUAL SWORDS or DUAL WEAPONS in general would be great, like gladiator style.

Please, no.

I would also add "Category" to the Formular, so that you know which Weapon Type it is intended to be

why not?
So I had an idea while I was driving the other day. It's a fairly big shakeup, so it might be better as like a mod of the game.

But, what if, instead of the way the refinement system currently works, each refinement was like a recipe book that taught Marcus (or whoever the blacksmith is) how to apply that refinement infinitely. So like, say I bought the predator refinement, instead of only being able to put it on one weapon, the blacksmith knows how to put it on any weapon. Refinements would then only have to be purchased once.

I think the endurance and weight system (which I love btw) is a built in balance against loading up every single weapon with the best refinements. Now, I'm only about halfway through the game, so I don't know if late game endurance values are so high they are no longer really limiting. Also can't comment on how busted all of the chest/drop refinements get. I feel like these could be balanced with increased weight or classify them as like a jewel that gets attached to the weapon so can only be equipped to one single weapon. The other balance I was thinking is maybe the shop refinements would need to cost more, maybe like double? So you're essentially buying two of them for the ability to use them infinitely.

Anyway, just a fun thought I had and wanted to share.

Good callout! I added "Type" to both the weapon and shield template. No worries if you already submitted without it I will piece together the category of the early submissions. :)

It's an interesting idea, but would require a pretty large rebalancing of the economy. I kind of tried to do something like what you're talking about with making the refinements transferable between weapons at no cost, so it's kind of like your idea that the smith "knows how to do it".

The problem would come in when you can buy one refinement (like sharpened for example) and then that means you can put it on every weapon. To balance getting +X damage on every single weapon, I'd have to increase the denari cost, and at that point it'd probably limit experimentation a little too much. I think having the refinements be able to be pulled out and switched around freely gets about half way to the idea you're thinking about (plus I'm not sure everyone knows about that feature). But let me know what you think! It's an interesting idea for sure.

Nah I get you. Certainly after the game is already released it would be weird to change a core aspect of the game so fundamentally. It was just a fun idea I had that I was going to keep to myself but this thread sort of seemed like a perfect opportunity to share it. Like I said in my original post, probably could only work as like a mod of the game.

You're right actually it would be the ability description! But for weapons/shields suggested without abilities, I'll have to think of a different solution. Probably not directly in the name though! xD

well, seeing one's idea realized in the game is pretty satisfying even without your name mentioned, at least for me.
And generally, it's a nice thank you to the community. I appreciate that

The community has given me a lot of joy not just in the past days from launch, but also in the early demo stages where people were nice enough to give constructive feedback while the game was in development to make it what it is today.

I'll allow myself one cheesy line: I wouldn't be here without you all, so I want to make sure I'm doing right by the community who supported me in this journey.

game has been great so far, really scratching that fire emblem itch and its nice to see what you've done with the different weapon types and how they have different innate abilities. From what I've seen through about 13 chapters is that there are a lot of unique weapons so far but shields have been pretty basic.

I submitted an idea for a new shield type that I hope you'll consider.

Love that! I'm really excited to read through some shield ideas because you're right it's a pretty unexplored design space.
Hello, I just started the game earlier today. For now, rather than an item, I would like to suggest to add a way to view the text log for the story while in the cutscene (as per all visual novels), as sometimes one might click too fast and accidentally skip a line.

Thanks for your support and feedback! I'm going to try looking into a text log during the story update part of the roadmap, so stay tuned! Not sure how feasible it will be yet, but it's in the list to be looked at/attempted.
