I have seen threads to recruit people from battle (like Sven) i think i may have missed several. Could anyone help with some missable people as i start over again.

Ch1 Slyker, Marcus, Illyanna, Arland form a group
Ch2 Abigail and Phoebe join them in the exam
Ch3 Elias and Reyson lead them to save the village from raiders
Ch4 No one joins in the vineyard battle
Ch5 Cedric shows at the cave
Ch6 Kaelith and Cassidy help save the burning town
Ch7 Rho, Benjen and Sven show in the escape from the duke's dungeons
Ch8 Finn and Melanie show in the guard station in the pass
Ch9 Ajax and Talon show at the docks, Edward stows away on the ship
Ch10 Hilda joins her brother, Quincy can be captured

From the top of my head, the rest of the game:

11: Phoebe's guard (Douglas?) Joins at rhe start (assuming phoebe is alive?)

12: Shiva joins automatically. Corbin can be recruited when you steal the fourth everburn.

13: Wesley is recruited as part of the main story objective.

14: Salvatore joins, probably requires beating him on the map rather than running.

15: no new recruits i believe.

16: no new recruits i believe.

17: The last recruit appears as npc reinforcements in the southwest corner, joins at chapter 18 (if he survived?).

20: depending on choices made in chapter 19, you get 2 or 3 very powerful recruits to aid you in the final fight.

-August: August, Crawford, Ophelia (if she survived chapter 19?)

-Rodrick: Rodrick and his second in command, whose name i forgot.

Can we get confirmation on recruitment conditions for characters? Specifically for the characters in chapters 8, 9 and 10 I'd love to be able to plan around what I'll need to recruit those characters who appear on the map so I dont get stuck having to repeat the map

Not going to bother with spoilers at this point in the thread.

Finn (Chapter 8)
You have to talk to him. I've always used Slyker, but he may not be necessary. Make sure that you talk to him before he runs off and gets slaughtered. Also make sure that after you talk to him, he is not in a desperate situation. If he is, you may be better off using your turn to kill those threatening him, and talking next turn.

Melanie (Chapter 8)
You have to talk to her. It does not have to be Slyker. Make sure she does not run away. To do so, you need to head East towards the chest, as soon as possible.

Ajax and Talon (Chapter 9)
It's Ajax's ship, and Talon is more or less his indentured server. As long as they are alive, they will join you.

Edward (Chapter 9)
He just stows away on the ship on which you're sailing. I doubt there are any requirements.

Hilda (Chapter 10)
If you spare her brother's life and then have him talk to he, she will join you. I do not know what happens if Sven is not among the currently fielded troop.

Quincy (Chapter 10)
You have to bring her health down without killing her, and brand her to insure the six months of servitude. The game will not stop an exchange of blows to save her, so keep track of how much damage you'll deal to her. Also, it is entirely possible that she attacks someone, and get killed in the process, so avoid having her charge into Reyson or someone like that.

Condition for recruiting some character

Chapter 7 : Sven will appear north of the starting position, in the prison, you need to talk to him with Slyker (only with him). I guess you need save him from being killed after chapter 3 for him to appear here.
Chapter 8 : Melanie will appear north est and steal a book then flee. You need to talk to her (with anyone) before she leave the map to recruit her. Finn will appear if get close to the north-west, you need to talk to him also. (maybe you need to unlock him with the conversation at the base ?)
Chapter 10 : You can talk to hilda with Slyker, or with Sven if you recruited him. Quincy, you need to drop her to less than 50% health without killing here, then spare and brand her. If you don't brand her, she will flee

Dammit, looks like I had already missed both Sven and Melanie. Are either strong characters?

And when will I get a second archer recruit?

Guys, it would be also nice if you can give us the base class of the recruits - so I know whether to wait or create one myself. For instance, I made a Skirmisher into a ranged unit, because I can't find any archer past the training one (and I was at chapter 9 already).

Hmmm should I make a separate one with some more spoiler tags? This thread has a couple reveals that would heavily spoil the game for people just starting out.

I don't think people will complain about the spoilers in this case though, as they are essential information without which you'd be disadvantaged.
