Whatever happened to the senior rangers?

I was expecting to get the two senior rangers at the beginning of the game as Late-game recruits but they just completely vanished after splitting up to the port. I get that we probably want to minimize the number of people with seniority over Slyker (Wesley kind of drove the story for like 2-3 missions after his recruitment) I'd like to know what happened to them, whether they got killed offscreen or something else.

This one is left up to the player's imagination. The last we see of them is Rickard raiding their HQ after they've escaped.
