Love the Game... Just a Suggestion
I play with perma death off. I just wanna casually play the game and then possibly do a harder perma death run in the future. Any chance there can be a removal of the main 3 dying being a fail state?

If it's a story npc or something I understand but any recruited companion should be allowed to die and not lose an hour long fight cuz they got caught.

Regardless this game is smooth and enjoyable.

Yeah, I feel that Stylker is the only hero that shouldn't be allowed to die. The rest, we should be able to let them die on permadeath.

Im doing a 6 man run and id like to do a 3 man run, but not with the main 3 heroes.

Story wise it won't make sense but I'm not here for the story. I still see conversations and rewards with dead characters.
I'd rather have that flexibility in which characters I can use or ditch.

Hey @Reignterror! Totally understand the want for this. That's why in patch v1.1.1 I made it so that if you're playing casual or normal difficulty with permadeath off, the defeat condition is all three units dying, rather than any one individual one. This way it doesn't punish one off mistakes.

From the patch notes:
QoL/Balance: If you have perma-death turned off, and are playing on casual/normal difficulties, you now need to lose all three mains for a "game over" on the chapter. For all veteran play-throughs or if you have perma-death enabled, this will not change. I've heard a lot of frustration voiced around having to redo a chapter when you're close to the end, and since there is no rewinding mid-battle, this feels like a good middle ground for those who don't enjoy the more punishing experience.

Is this the experience you're seeing? If it's not working as described above, I would have to go in to take a look.

If you're asking if I can remove the defeat conditions completely, it's a possibility. It would be quite a large lift though, and I don't think I'd be able to get to it over any of the roadmap items.

Ah! I thought I saw that change in the patch notes. It didn't work for me, as I am playing on Hard with permadeath off rather than Normal/Casual.

It would be nice to have that middle ground of needing all three dead but also playing on Hard.

I love how brutal the enemies can be on hard, but I'm a baby about losing my team, haha!

Regardless, after re-reading patch v1.1.1, I see that the feature has been added for those difficulty settings, and that's awesome. I might edit my save file to normal difficulty for my first playthrough.

I appreciate how thoughtful you are of the game, and I greatly enjoy it. I wish you all the success, and it's motivating me to get back into game development.

Cheers!
