local co-op?

it says it's possible to join a game locally but it asks for an address which is confusing since it doesn't really specify what type of address, as well as that there is no game code in a game you host. does anyone know how to properly join a game locally? also would love for this game to make it possible to play just on one computer that way I can connect two controllers and play through my steam account with friends/family.
