Top it off with anti consumer practices like locking players out of most of the roster, along with garbage season passes and you get a dwindling playerbase.
The cosmetics were all ugly. I'd at least thought Lola would of gotten the space Jam 96 costume. I would of paid for that. But no. That Lola was this and that blah blah blah.
WB has access to so many characters, and they pick the most obscure and crappy ones. Like Nubia. Who the hell cares about Nubia? We have Wonder Woman.
Take your diversity and get lost.
Just... Bad choices all around ruined this game. I feel sorry for anyone who thought Multiversus was going anywhere. I knew it was ♥♥♥♥ from the beginning.
The player base count around the end of the beta was around 2k which is waaaay better considering how it is now. I would have kept playing it too but after day 1 of this "rework" I was not convinced into dedicating more time into it.
I tried it again after the relaunch. The addition of the Rifts story mode was a nice touch... But they doubled down on everything else that I viewed as a flaw. I am one of the rare players who found the slower pace to be a welcome change, but the other drawbacks ended up driving me away. No FOMO here - I am glad I "missed out," and wasn't terribly surprised to hear about this shut down. It was sooner than I expected, but inevitable.
The combat needed a serious touch up. There is no priority system. It's just whoever has better range and wider hurtboxes. Fundamentals like grabs should be essential to everyone.
Top it off with players being able to grab you out of your dodge and punish you for something they didn't earn. Jason and Superman players do this a lot. That's a game quitting issue.
Look at Fox from smash. He's weak and relies on combos to get ahead. In place of his lack of range, he has a good combo setup and a good special kit.
Lola has nothing good. She's supposed to be the fox of the game, but she gets canceled out by Garnet. Batman. Superman. Jason. Finn. Joker ect. Almost everyone.
And what does Lola have in her kit? A dumb basketball and a shield attack that is the poor man's version of Fox's deflector but far worse. She can combo, but good luck with the way combat works in Multiversus.
Wanna know why Smash is good? It has simple fundamentals.
1. Strong>weak attacks.
2. Weak+Weak=cancel out.
3. Strong+Strong=cancel out.
4. Specials>Strong and weak attacks.
5. Specials can be punished by grabs
or weak/strong attacks.
6. You can easily attack left while facing right and right while facing left.
Multiversus does none of these things.
The devs legit just said. Let's just have everyone spam the most reliable moves until they win and not have a way to counter such behavior.🤣
Gameplay is everything.
