I would have never imagined this game to be below Brawlhalla in "current player numbers".
Because Brawlhalla is the only fighting game that has the "game as a service" model that is so popular in the most played games. But it has basic gameplay that people seem to hate and unknown characters that don't play very different from each other. Multiversus is the second game to try this model.

So, I thought the player numbers of Brawlhallla game was "the floor" of what a fighting game could get on that model. But here we have a game with popular characters that play very differentely from each other and it's already below them 2 months after release.

Sure, I understand that the game is new and thus there are issues with the lag, lack of features and no ranked. Also the hype of games decline considerably after the release. Still, I feel it shouldn't be this low even with all those problems. I just could have never imagined this game to be below Brawlhalla in player numbers after that release.

Okay, so? What does it matter? Play the game/s you enjoy.

You just said it's been out for only 2 months. Don't you think you should wait like a year then make a judgement on if it's dead or not? that's like if I dated someone for 2 months then decided I should marry them. You gotta give things time and think things over that time.

I never said it's dead nor did I implied that it's dying. It's still the second most played fighting game right now. You guys sound very defensive. I simply said that I was expecting this game to be the most played game in the genre considering Brawlhalla has been that for a while and most people agree that the only special thing about that game is that "game as a service" model they have which no other fighting game has tried before and Multiversus is trying now but with popular franchises.

The game released with 150.000 players at the same time, no fighting game has ever reached more than 40.000. Not even Brawlhalla. All the push in youtube that the game had, the Smash community talking about it even though they ignore brawlhalla. I expected this game to be #1 in the genre until Project L came out. I knew the playerbase ws going to drop but didn't expected it to drop this low.

Sure, I will play any game I enjoy. That's not the point though.

It matters because I expected this game to be a bit more "mainstream" than other fighting games thanks to it's game as a service model. It's a niche genre, so with that numbers on release and the push it was having, I thought maybe this game would be more mainstream and have many people playing. That would make other companies see a potential profit in this genre and get into it as well.

Right now, the big companies don't make fighting games because I guess they see no profit in it. All we get are the same japanese devs making the same franchises over and over with ♥♥♥♥ netcode and expensive season passes. Valve, ActiBlizzard, EA games, Riot, Epic games are all making Battle Royale, FPS, Mobas, card games, auto chess and other online based games. And when one makes a game of a certain genre, the other follows. I thought maybe the success of this game would make those companies consider this genre as a possiblility.

I guess I will have to wait 2 years for Project L to see if other companies follows them after but this lack of interest in a game that had everything in it's favour to make it big sets a pretty bad precedent.

It's... still pretty big? Its 30-day average player count - 16k - is higher than Brawlhalla, and their 24 hour peak players are both around 11-12k. The next highest fighting game on the chart is GG Strive, with mid-3000 players both average and peak. So, at minimum, MVS is over four times more popular than the next biggest fighting game.

People gotta get out of this mentality that a game is a miserable failure if it doesn't have a million players 24/7 and wide pop culture appeal. Not everything can be Fortnite.

Hell, it's actually kind of impressive that MVS has only been out two months and has beaten all other fighting games on Steam except Brawlhalla, and it's neck and neck there. That'd be like calling a new MOBA a failure because it only managed to get 90% as many players as League of Legends.

lol if u think gg strive is the most popular fight game out there u dumb go look at tekken 7 numbers big boy besides theres wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much of a diferrence to say multiversus is a fight game like gg strive is a completely different type to compare the 2 big bro like for real, and if ur really think multiversus beated the other fighting games u dont play any real fighting game, multiversus is a ok game is cool cause any casual that tries multiversus can do anything yet pretty sure 99% of the people that try multiversus is not gonna even bother trying other fighting game that actually requires to play and try to learn, not saying multiversus is bad, is a fun game yes mega casual but please dont compare it to other fighting games like gg strive or street fighter u can only compare it to braw and smash thats it

I think this is the same mind set when warframe became more popular and known for its content. Forgetting the early years of it being mostly shallow grinding, with little use for credits. I remember playing brawlla at momocon when it was starting out small, and honestly didn't remember it until years later hearing its massive success. It's only been 2 months, and it still needs work, but atleast for a starting point its better then most.

Okay, so I missed Tekken 7 in there. It's at 5000 average players and 9500 peak in the last 24 hours. So half of MVS numbers still. In other words, MVS is still handily beating the most popular fighting game. Why are we talking about it dying? Tekken 7 is apparently already in the grave, followed by every other fighting game ever released.

Also, everything past that is a word salad you could've left out. Next time you want to type, take a deep breath and think about what you want to say before you start smashing the keyboard.

Tekken's not a fighting game because it's in 3D with sidesteps. Real fighting games are 2D only like Multiversus.

I can make silly claims, too.

I was questioning your age because of your lack of grammar but your steam bio confirmed that you're like 14.
