Look mate... I used to be able buy a released game for 20-40€...
This scam that all the individual characters cost 10€ needs to stop.
I didn't even buy smite back in beta when you could get all gods and future for 20€ cause it was rewarding to actually unlock them. This game has none of that
My brother in Christ, I have WC3VidyaOnly set as my primary group. You don't have to tell me that you hate micro transactions. I remember TFT giving me thousands of hours of playtime alone. I've been around enough to know that the people hating the Oblivion horse armor are fools and should be hating MapleStory.
I really think they should add a "$30 for all characters, now and future" kinda deal, like HighRez does for Smite. But maybe it's best not to mention them what with Baset's one skin, and all. Kinda weird they pushed a lawsuit and now they have a Co-investment fund with ("Made in") Georgia Studios, who manages HighRez.
You just asked if it was worth it, and I gave ya my answer. I get it the micro transactions suck, but I'm not on the dev team, I don't buy a ton of characters and skins, and WB had to keep the lights on and; -despite everyone saying they're a "multi billion dollar company" every third thread, they're billions of dollars in debt and could be dissolved with a few years of not paying back the loan, a fact I'm sure they're super proud of and advertise daily.
I paid ten dollars for a battle pass. I'd probably give that thirty for all the characters, too, but iono, time will tell. Just chill, be happy they have a dev team working on things and listening feedback, judging from the removal of Dexters Lab 1 from the standard matchmaking rotation.
for a new account unlocking the joker will take a lot of time already, and unlocking other required character too, and it's not even sure you like what you unlocked just for the sake of advancing that stupid mode with unfair damage difficultyes starting at crushing.
sure you can boast that it is easy for you, and I won't deny IA isas braindead as it was before, but there is a lot of prerequisite for this stupid mode.
Oh so you already have agent Smith huh?
Honestly, all I do is do each difficulty as they become available, then just do the daily rifts every day. I'm already at tier 6...by the time he comes out I'll probably be well PAST tier 9 because some of my chaos stuff is already hitting level 7.
Like earliest he can be done is when chapter 6 drops, which from the looks of it is 2 weeks from now. If you LITERALLY just do daily missions, rift dailies and NOTHING ELSE you'll probably be able to do the final day in one long marathon since it's chaos gems, so you'll have tons of time to get three of them to level 9.
It's just how much you care to unlock something for free. I'd much rather get a $10 item for free and use the money I earn along the way to unlock whoever comes out NEXT that doesn't get any sort of event. But that's just me.
So you'll be paying EXTRA for not doing dailies which you have PLENTY of time to do, even missing a few days.
You don't get gems by playing rifts for 20 hours a day....
You get gems by doing daily rifts and daily missions. There's like 4-5 a day, alternating between the open rifts, giving you gems primarily of the element of the color of the mission containing the daily reward.
I don't think you can even GET more gems by grinding, can you? I've never actually gotten a crate from a mission that wasn't a daily outside of first clear / unlocking pips which you can do like 4/5 usually per run with a co-op partner.
I mean they physically can't, but it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. They're acting like they're getting abused for having to play the game they're already playing and taking advantage of all the free stuff they're being offered for CASUALLY playing until the character actually releases alongside the chapter 6 update two weeks from now.
IDK. Maybe I'm just from a different generation and breed who actually enjoy getting free things through earning them. SO many people have bad "Quest management" but MMORPG players get it. You cross that daily/weekly stuff off first thing you do in the day, then focus on leveling your characters and account.
In this case, do your dailies, daily rift missions, and go right back to whatever game mode you enjoy, and get back to leveling your favorite character. It's a small detour that takes a few minutes the first time you log on each day. It's a "warmup session" if you will.
Yeah I'm aware, I did the bosses already and honestly it's such a drag.
You get the gems by opening the boxes that you get from dailies or by doing the stars 20,40,60,80,100.
Still it's such a tedious thing to do.
Also the 20h us to grind the lvls since there's no other way to gain fighter tokens.
But... the events... which also requires you to lvl up your characters to progress.
You see where I'm going with this?
It's ~30~ fights to get a character to level 5.
I got it at literally 30 1v1 wins. I checked the other day when leveling black adam, but I did also have a couple of rift clears with him so there's a little wiggle room.
The event can be done in 1 day, since most 1v1 matches don't last more than about 2 minutes. That's about an hour per character, or 3 hours to complete the entire wonderwoman event.
ON TOP of the rewards you get via leveling in and of itself, assuming you started at level 0.
Now granted, if you already have your characters maxed out, that might take longer. I'm not sure if each consecutive level increases the amount needed or if it's just raw numbers.
I already finished the wonderwoman workout event thing. Cleaned it up last night. Just played about 100 matches and got all the levels I needed, but that involved me turning on some music, just sitting there immediately rematching/re-queing over and over until I got the levels, switching, and repeating until it was done.
It's absolutely not easy to grind, but just taking it one step at a time helps a ton. Look at each level as it's own reward, keep track of your wins and encourage yourself to raise that number. Little things help with the mental game, and when you're having fun you won't notice the grind. If your fun hinges on unlocks, you'll absolutely have a bad time, but you'll also burn out if you don't play for the love of the game itself.
Like, I told my friend earlier who was disheartened about not having new characters that from where he was, he was only about 5 hours from having a brand new character for free. With a little bit of grind, which I was happy to sit with him through, and play with him through, broken up into two days. For 5 hours of play. But, before he even got his newest purchase to level 5, he already wanted a new toy to play with because instead of trying to learn to really USE the character, he's searching for that "New thing feeling", which will NEVER make you actually happy with the game.
My suggestion to most people is to do a mix. Start off free. You get Banana Guard, Jason, Shaggy, And a rotation of characters that, to my knowledge, always include a Mage, a Bruiser, A Tank and an Assassin.
if you can do all of your dailies for a week and not feel any kind of burnout, and you're still hungry for more matches? You'll probably be happy with a $10 purchase or two and then just grind out everything else for free. Maybe Splurge on some nice costumes. You'll be pulling a new 3000 character every 3 days, and a new 6000 character every week
If you find yourself missing days because you're busy, but you enjoy the game enough that you're not ready to just out and out uninstall maybe scrounge up $40~$60, treat it like a "Full game purchase" and get a good spread of characters. Then just do whatever events you're able when you're able to supplement that with an occasional free character. You can expect a new "Free" character like once a month at that rate assuming you play maybe twice a week for an hour?
It'll be REALLY slow, at any rate. But that's because you get a lot of fighter coins from your events and account leveling, and you'll be getting LESS fighter coins for not doing them in the first place so it's probably going to take longer than a month.
You either have to REALLY want it, just buy it, or be happy with what you've got.
