Is Banana Man OP?

I recall seeing a complaint about the character here, but attributed it to just salt at first.

Then I picked him up, and noticed that unlike before where people usually happily accepted a rematch they quickly leave the match once it is over - Hence the question.

I picked Banana Man up because his moveset reminded me of the spear weapon's moveset in Brawlhalla which I am familiar with, so he felt like an easy character for me to pick up. If he is actually OP though, I can switch to other characters instead until he gets properly tuned.

Yeah. Damage and knockback on his moves, particularly his side-special, is just too high. His self-buff increases that even more, making him a ridiculous powerhouse unless he never hits you at all.

I would say his damage is only slightly over tuned, it's more of the games weird hit boxes. Like some of his forward stabs hit above him, but nothing of the animation would indicate that.

his side special doing 18-21% is actual insanity. I really don't mind the rest of his kit. Maybe tweak his hitbox on his side attack, kinda big behind him.
