from 160k down to 40k players.
thats a 75% loss of players, granted thats steam only but it doesnt look great for the future of this game, if this is the way its going to continue.

I hope they didnt get too many Whales before they pull the plug.

MultiVersus is only popular because of recency bias. It will be dead in a few months. Literally a mobile version of Smash.

they need to release new content cause people are already getting burned out on what little th egame has
and you need to put in about 150 hours to unlock every char

Every game has hype, and the nit goes away. Fortnite for instance had hype, and it's been pretty normal ever since then. Fighting games have never been that popular compared to shooters, so this is to be expected considering it was also a fighting game that had fan favorite characters in it. This game could also possibly be more popular than smash bros we don't know their numbers, and we have never been told their numbers. This game is on steam, xbox, and playstation. The game is probably the most popular fighting game out there right now.

pretty normal for this genre of game, 40k is still over 2000% (not an exaggeration) more than what these games usually retain, and yeah after the initial first few days all games lose a substantial amount of players. I'm not sure if you're just ignorant or it's bait but dumb post regardless.

This. Yep. This game is on almost every platform and on epic games, too. Steam isn't the world lol. Also.... we have lives, dude. Ppl go to work, ppl go out and touch grass, and its still a game in open beta. Most ppl probably have already finished the preseason pass and are just waiting for season 1. This happens to literally every single game and moreso if it's a free game. Ppl check it out, some like it, some don't, some leave, some stay.

This is just a sad post tbh. I'm glad the comments section has been able to call you out on your fearmongering and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Turn off the screen. Go outside. Touch grass. Hit the gym. Run a couple laps. You sound like you need a little more oxygen in your brain and a little less time behind a screen.

Pretty sure most people are waiting for new characters, the new battle pass, and the new season to start along with the updates that hopefully fixes most of the hitbox/hurtbox issues.

It's also on Epic Games. Not to mention, its free and it has potential for a gigantic pool of fighters. There will be spikes whenever new characters release. I can see a spike on the horizon when rick and morty become available. SUUUPER popular characters.

Not really a good time to measure a game's playerbase, the summer had just ended for many people which means significantly less people have the time to hop on MultiVersus until the weekends.

Not only that, but most players are just waiting for Season 1 to start, so they can grind the new battle pass and play new modes like ranked, while also waiting for new characters to arrive.

Sorry but this game will not die, the game had amassed 10 million registered users before the game even got out of it's beta phase.

This game has a big budget for a F2P game, and it will have an insane amount of content when the game is fully released so it would be very rare for this game not to strive even more

i think the game will be fine, it has over 10 Million total players; plus it's a free game so it's not like there's a barrier of entry stopping people from checking the game out. i could see if this was a $60+ dollar game, then yes there is cause for worry, but being that it's free and on most modern platforms the game should be fine as long as the dev team keep the game running smoothly online (which could be done a little better imopo).

40k minus EPIC, Xbox, PS...

Games always drop off, you might want to get a new hobby that isn't staring at a player count
