Why does NO ONE play Steven?

He's been the character I've seen the least by far, and I play mostly Teams. I even see Taz and Arya more often. Steven has been almost completely absent, he's like finding a Lance user in Monster Hunter.

He's not a bad character and you only need a few matches to get up to speed with him. He's also the main character of his franchise which is, as far as I know, not unpopular. But you'd think Garnet was actually the main character, since I see her way more often. I know it's not related to his tier list position, since I see Lebron all the time. Is it because he has that little "Expert" tag next to his name? I would think so, if only I didn't see someone lazily trying out Iron Giant every few games.

So what's up? What's your excuse for playing everyone except Steven Universe?

He's not free, costs 3000 and is a support character. Oh and he looks boring.

In terms of statistics, Steven is more expensive than the average character, at 3000, giving him competition from Iron Giant and Tom and Jerry for price point, has the expert marker, and requires high end teamwork to operate with, which you don't really get with rando's.

While he's got ridiculously strong options circumstancially, that is purely circumstancial, the stars don't always align, on top of that, the risk/reward to his actions are generally skewed negatively compared to the other two supports, who can threaten large portions of the screen at once with projectiles and both have at least one disjointed hitbox to challenge approaches.

The biggest thing is though, a bad Steven or bad partner for Steven practically makes the game a 2v1 game, and that's an element that's COMPLETELY out of your control with randoms, right now, only a couple characters can get partners which are actively detrimental to their playstyles, and Steven's one of them.

His gameplay is fine, but some people might be bothered by one/many of the above.
I plan on unlocking him someday but not only is velma cheaper & fun, there are more interesting characters to unlock first.

Im glad not everyone likes the same, its the character i first bought and the one i levelup more than any other, he is really fun and strategic(hence the Expert label i would say) for me, he is really hard to use, the melee attacks seem to lose against every other character but still super fun.
Plus everyone is playing the same OP characters over and over(ex: Fin, Bugs Bunny and Superman) but that will change when the new patch rolls over

Honestly, I've never watched Steven Universe and I really dislike the character design. I tried him in lab and he just doesn't fit my playstyle. He is pretty decent cuz I fought a couple bots who used him and he can be pretty annoying. But he's nothing to write home about at least for me.

Nah, they aren't OP. I've been able to beat them with reindog and garnet (even tho I main Shaggy). U just have to know how to counter their strengths. They all have very punishable moves.

I labbed everyone on day 1 and decided that I'm gonna buy Steven and Bugs...

I learned about the lore of Steven's show later.

P.S. I also decided Reindog and Finn as my #3/4 but I never really enjoyed their playstyles afterward after getting them.

Well "beating them" is easy or hard depending on the player but if the character is OP and the player is good with the character you wont be "beating them" :)
As for the show i never watched the show or anything, just tried to watch the episode 1 a couple days ago and i have to say the show is quite boring for me ^^'
