shoulda had sheilds and priority like smash. That initial surge of players was the smash people hoping it would be good. now they have been let down and went away.


Smasher here, I really like this game and how different it is but the servers are really bad and there is too much focus on 2v2 while not having any incentive to play them in the 1st place. Also, the content is kinda lacking but I guess it is to be expected.
Steam numbers are low, but most of the playerbase isnt on steam. Max playercount is 150k give or take, and the total number of accounts is over 20Mil. That tells me that most people are on consoles. I admit I don't know the epic games playercount, but I'm assuming it's fairly healthy. I'd say the game is doing fine, a bit of a dry season but that's to be expected during beta and when they're still rolling out content. I really doubt this game will die before the official release.

My opinion is that children don't understand time zones.
They also don't seem to understand that people (adults) have stuff to do in the middle of a Thursday.

Jesus people, consoles exist and they're actually way more common than Steam. This game isn't dying, and you honestly don't believe that or you wouldn't be crying on the forums for attention.

It should come as a surprise to nobody that measuring the concurrent playerbase of a game with crossplay is a bit more difficult than just looking at steam charts. it's on Epic games , Xbox and playstation so steamcharts is only showing half the picture.

I'd really only say the game is dead if it takes me 20 minutes to get into one game, Plus it's not a new thing for great games with netcode issues to tank in player count until it's generally considered to be more playable online since not everyone has ethernet.

Steamcharts also doesn't factor in EGS players, nor does it factor Steam users with accounts set to Private

It's all about Queue times. Less than 30 seconds means the game is alive and kicking. I'm less than 10 seconds still, which means it's still very active.
Don't forget this game has crossplay, which all modern games need to implement. As so many Steam games suffer the fate of a low player base as we have so many games to juggle.
There are also other platforms that people play on. I mostly face xbox and PS people.
the term "dead game" has at this point lost all its meaning since people keep miss-using it.

This game isn't dead but, it really has lost the hype it had when it launched lol. So most people are playing other games that are popular trends like Overwatch 2.
