Yes indeed the game is based on a minecraft, however minecraft works fluidly well for being a custom kind of openGL engine (LWJGL), it is closer to look like a DX11 than an OpenGL. Mojang incomparably and implicitly knew that openGL would shoot itself in the foot. But of course what I took from reports on discord.
But it is a fact that cannot be ignored, it becomes excusable and frustrating and there is still time to work and fix it. If the developer wants to rewrite the API code? I don't know, I don't work for the company.
But it's clear that this fluctuation that many people are having performance issues with even modestly strong setups, doesn't make any sense. If EXBO wants to speak out about this, in my view, it will only help him get closer to such a community. It is in this type of game that a Dev has to be as close as possible to the fanbase. Or otherwise, my friend, it doesn't hold up for long.
We're talking about quality of life, and not simply wanting to come here and say that the game is bad. Ain't I will pass on the idea that this is it.
There is no denying that OpenGL runs terribly, but for big tech companies to outright consider it legacy at this point is outrageous, many games still run on it and because of them deciding to no longer push out performance patches in the drivers for it, it's just gone downhill.
Besides, game has been running on OpenGL since it even came into the conceptualization state considering it was a Minecraft mod and now its just a fork of Minecraft turned into Stalcraft so its unlikely they'll add support for other rendering engines, although if they do it's obviously gonna be a good thing for alot of people.
