and yes, the controller hater's out there are ignorant one sided people who don't know how to be accepting and prefer to force people to use something their not comfortable with... among knowing they can also get their ass' kicked by a controller player WITH NO AIM ASSIST on top of it... but then again, if those TYPES of people learned to flip the concept around, then they'd understand, say only controllers worked for a game but KB&M didn't except for my case only mouse... i'm sure they'd want that fixed ASAP...
It's odd because it works great on Deck, but Windows implementation...
Oh well. I picked up Tarkov and it works swimmingly with Steam so I guess I'll just play that.
maybe i can try and figure something out then. usually pretty good at this unless it's something hard coded. but i could also be steam's fault also since the steam deck launched i've had lots of issues controller wise and lost many configs i've made to specific games... if they were not saved as a profile, it's gone..
I felt that way at first. The new version is MUCH better once you get used to the changes.
anyways. started doing some testings and such, so far i've tried quite a few potential work arounds and none worked. either gave me the the same thing or NO inputs. from noticing how some who stream and/or record playing this game on their steam deck and from testing my end on PC, it seems like something is either NOT loading or IS loading that's causing it not to work on PC with controllers. the more likely one i'm thinking is the anti-cheat stuff isn't loading on the steam decks with steamOS, since i have not come across anyone with windows on their steam deck to test it and i know the deck has issues with games because of anti-cheat not working or loading. but anyways, i think on PC it's loading something like the anti-cheat up and it's disabling the controllers is why. while on steamdeck it doesn't load up which is why the controller works. it could be something else but this is my best guess at it and what it seems like. i have sent a ticket in on their stuff, guess we'll see if i get a lazy reply or something will actually be done and/or fixed.
Yeah you'll just have to wait til they implement it into the game. idk if they've done it yet or not, but assuming from your reply, i'd guess not. the game ONLY works on the steamdeks for the controller use through steam. the only other software that MAY work is a program called "reWASD" you can trial it to see if it works, it's the only other thing that get's past certain anti-cheats or are allowed to pass it. i know it use to work on valorant and was the ONLY thing that worked for controller... i literally tried everything and that was the only one. but it's been a year or 2 since i tried that. but does have a lot of settings, but i've been overly used to using steam and also trying to learn the new UI and layout as well as new bugs and issues that arise... biggest one pissing me off since the first change is it's resetting my controller layouts i made for games and if you don't save them to a profile every time you changed something before there is an update... it's gone... sadly many of them i spent hours tuning the joycurves and layouts and so on and now i don't want to play certain games unless i have enough time to also put a couple hours into re-making my layouts...
anyways... before i rant about that any more...
yes many things can actually detect these as cheat software because of their nature, much like software for most mice use to throw bans because of how it worked as well also in majority of games, macro's and scripts are bannable, that includes rapid fire/clicking. some games allow the macro software but monitor the software and your inputs to make sure their not being macro'ed. also some physical robot cheats are also using macro's and some of the cheat software use a bunch of these functions also... as for scripts... their all round seen as cheating no matter what, sadly.. there are mice that allow this and script-enabled mice can do a LOT of iffy and cheatery stuff such as auto aim, recoil control, rapid fire, stronger aim-assist, and so on... luckily some(not many... but should be WAY more) game devs have a brain and ban any account and/or device even connecting these devices to their PC and it's detected online/competitive games as a precaution. why anything capture window or overlay wise use to also throw issues or ban's cause cheaters use to(and still do) make simple programs that overlay the game for ESP/walling related cheats. luckily, most of these issues have been ironed out quite well compared to about 7-10 years ago. but still does happen. sadly... cheater's and maker's of cheats have sadly also gotten way more advanced where they have cheats that are made for streamer's... why anyone who's seen on a game with a "TTV" and other streaming or video tags are assumed a cheater the last 5 or so years because the cheats you can buy can be hidden from the stream seeing it, making it look like their playing normally but actually got a bunch of cheats running... sadly many have made it seem like if they show their task manager it means their not cheating... no, everything can be spoofed and renamed with cheats.... sadly some cheater's also try to convince people this as well with the task manager...
now on top of it... there is also 2 cheap/affordable devices being used by controller players AND streamers... that's allowing easy scripting and cheating on consoles and PC... luckily many games are finally trying to get on bored with banning those if even detected on any system...
sorry for the lengthy reply especially about cheats, but figured anyone who didn't know can now know why some of these things can be more complicated than it seems... there is more to it also when adding controller/gamepad inputs because of the amount of controller's out there,
It is dissapointing but if this game has that bad of a cheating problem and I cant use my basic xbox controller which in theory is just a keyboard I'll have to wait for that patch or update before I can play this. I don't respect cheaters in multiplayer games, I do hope they get the bulk of that problem situated by the time standard controllers are allowed through the anti cheat. Yes it is quite a lot for me to wrap my head around. Thats okay
Also I appreciate the lengthy reply, its always good to lay some knowledge down when you got the chance.

i was mentioning the cheat's in general, meaning majority of online games out there, idk if this game has many cheater's or not as i don't play it strictly cause of the controller not working.... yet.... only tried to play it cause of a few friends who were playing it. but it's pretty much a given on any online game now days... has been a lot more people cheating and streamers cheating also the last 5 or so years... just comes down when and how many you come across... depending on the game, chances are, at least each match/lobby there is 1 or more cheaters. most are not apparent. even some cheater's i've come across on many types of indie games who still couldn't beat most players competitively but were using ESP cheats. very few i beat using aimbotting cheats but cheaters getting beat shows how bad they really are lol, not all though. sadly... after helping so many people with issues of their games or PC's... come across some who openly told they were cheating or using certain things for doing such things or asking me about it and also... some have a view or even religion that makes them think that cheating in online competitive games isn't bad... a couple i convinced it is bad and against their religion. very few i convinced but they also stopped playing the games cause they were not good at it and didn't want to learn how to play or be better. but in short, this is to have info that no one type of people, region or religion cheats, all types cheat... there is definitely more in certain circles and such. but... yeah.
your welcome, i tend to type more than i should but i know when it comes to controller stuff usually their people from consoles, or not tech savy so i like to be specific and detailed. BUT, even tech savy people don't know half this stuff... only recently a streamer on YT put it on blast, named g0at, but everything he's done... my self and old friends have done that for years and usually companies have banned us for helping, or they were in on it making more money off it by selling the cheats, strait up didn't care, or pretend to care and not do anything about it even sending them the cheats, and so on. now days everything needs to be put on blast online on social media for it to be taken seriously or at all... but you have to also been somewhat known/popular on top of it. my friends and i have started doing that stuff since PS2 days. but around... 8-10 years ago or so, we all just gave up cause we didn't have the means(money, hardware, location, internet) to be a "creator" to get big either for it to make a difference and most of the time the game people just didn't care... i still tried to help against it over the years on games i played a lot or liked a lot, but half the time i don't try and just report everyone any more and let them deal with it lol. chances are, anything with a leader board also tends to bring a lot of cheaters getting their names up there for some reason and even if found cheating they're rarely removed from the leader boards which has never made sense to many of us...
I went the steam settings and click on controller on the left menu.
Then I found the settingthats says "enable Steam input for xbox controllers" and turned it on.
The looking around movement drags and but everything else seems the work just fine.
Hope this helps
