Why do you use your own equipment in session battles?
Isn't it better to have a predefined equipment in order to balance the matches?

Session battles are designed for end game +15 Master geared players to curb-stomp Timmies, predefined equipment is in Operation Dead Time.

Thank you for the reply, didn't know that. I'll give it a try at Operation Dead Time. :)

Do you think it would be impossible to matchmake if there would be a gear check?

Problem is that there are not enough people playing Stalcraft, let alone session battles. Any matchmaking for Session Battles would simply dilute the players into tiny groups.

I think the equipment score was made for that purpose, but indeed perhaps there are not enough players.

Gear score is a depreciated feature, the number means literally nothing anymore, yet it persists purely to confuse players.

So how is it determined who do I meet in the open world?

Magic and horrible matchmaking based off your gear and some more magic.
You WILL, at times, face people with FAR better gear than you, because the matchmaking is horrible.

This article explains it in detail:

the gearscore is an ok rough estimate, but its unreliable.

The thing is, even with this knowledge you'll still get shafted by the strange matchmaking system.
