I had fun playing solo. But I heard super-lategame is impossible to play solo.

If you are new solo player, I strongly recommend to watch some guides, especially about gear and tiers, not to make mistakes. Ofc if you don't want to f up your characte.
It's way easier if you have/find a friend who is experienced in the game and can tell you hidden mechanics the game has. The game is way more interesting when you get to know that stuff.
Solo is okay, but it's much more comfortable and enjoyable to play the game duo-trio. Especially when you get veteran+ tier gear. Having a comrade cover you ass is a time and grind saver.

I'm in the north now and play solo/ I keep my weapons at +5 and only using veteran gear (pink) (all from story missions, other than my +5 M4A1 CQB). Gear score is under 500 and fairly balanced. People form groups for outposts or I just join in when a few there.

All areas have been fine. Some of the story missions have been tricky solo as had to navigate to hostile areas like the graveyard, but fun overall. There are always routes you can follow to avoid conflict more often than not if needed.

Keeping gear score lower is better and raise gradually. Otherwise you will be put in servers with people who have very good gear.

I have almost 2k hours and am almost always solo. Its completely doable, some of the end game zones you want a party, but you can group with randoms in ur faction to go places if you want. I still do the group places solo. Don't let them scare you away, yeah you'll die alot, but you'll still die alot in a group too.
