Is it a good idea to join them early? Or should i craft everything in need in Bar before doing so?

You better farm everything you want from military warehouses (location above the bar, dunno how devs translated "военные склады" into english) so duty/freedom or mercs/covenant players wont pk you while you farm and then join faction when you are about to head north of the Zone.

I mean tbf, you still have to worry about the other factions (bandit/stalker) doing the same, which could frankly be just as bad if not worse + you get like 10x less matts than if you were to grind them at the subfaction bases.


My take is that you should craft everything right up to the levels that require subfaction tier barter items (ie dopestone, northern moss, gamma frags), and then join them to finish the gear tree. Afterwards you can temporarily leave the subfactions to continue farming for the things you think you might need in the future and then join it back (you don't have to redo the challenge).

Also the underground subfactions are the easiest to grind, aboveground is only really good for signals.

After you've joined a subfaction you need to pay iirc 100k to switch to the other subfaction. Rejoining your own subfaction is completely free, just you have to wait 24 hours after leaving to be able to do so.

Though I'm unsure if you're able to rejoin while admissions are closed, you might need to look into that.
