how do i swap channels

i'm trying to join a friend, he's in a different channel and i can't find a way to swap to where he is. any help please?

Open a squad with him. Then you need to press z or y i think and he or y will join the squad. After that press z or y again and you should join him or he joins you

it's kinda tedious and definitely not user friendly
