I honestly agree with Tyopepe.. Also if anyone could open them. Whats stopping high lvl player from taking a bunch of ♥♥♥♥. going out and dying on purpose to then drop all the stuff to a new player? since there's no level other then Rep. That guy would be hitting late game gear quick as ♥♥♥♥.
I think a half loot system would work, where half of everything not locked is lost on death. Maybe lost backpacks can be a thing only when killed by an anomaly or mutant, and then have some mechanic where players can take them to an NPC in the forest/pit or somewhere else nasty to unlock it for a fee.
As cool as that sounds. I Put up bags for close to nothing on auction. First people cant even access the auction until like cordon as they cant use the courier before that. And 9/10 times people dont even seem to notice that there bag is up on the auction so whats the point? why use an auction? why not have a ransom systems linked between bases? where i can pay to get it out and they can put it in? Then money is transfered?
Don't worry it's a demo, Totally fine that they can't access courier for now. When it will be out more and more people will have access in couple of hours. And if they can't access it, they don't need their stuff as it's easy to farm them back.
The only time that someone take my bag in auction, i was like "wtf it's awesome", because i got a notification when i log on.
So yes they have the notification an,d it's impossible to miss it. But, they are not forced to bid on them. that maybe why you think that.
I like this system because otherwise it would be a game killer if they could just take your farm and up their weapon simply like that. It simply just reduces the dumb PVP, and that's fair.
Ransom system could be nice, so they could choose either one.
That or make it so the only method of gaining the items inside someone else's backpack is limited by a certain service character or something with a steep cost, that way only the biggest backpacks would be worth it.
