Stop furnace burning through fuel when nothing to process?
To be fair the title says it all, is there a way to use logic to turn off the furnace when it isn't actively processing anything? I'm currently trying to set up my first train system to transport coal to all my waystones (I've been unlucky only the one near my cave entrance is next to any big trees), but even with stone paths and Haling Sparks my log production isn't quite keeping up with the processing speed (I plan to fix this later by having more logs come from slightly further away) but would still like to know if there is a way to prevent over use of the coal

I have thought of this, but kind of rolled my eyes and moved on. I'd like to have a check to see if the capacity checker checks the item input, the fuel input or the output.

I'd imagine it's the output, so we're out of luck, unless there's another trick I'm missing.

As far as I can tell the capacity checker only does the output

You can try to use output buffer storages and check their capacity. If the storage is, let's say, 70% filled, you stop providing the coal. Eventually the furnaces will stop after adding some more products on top of those 70% to the buffer storages.

Another way is to have and check capacity of input buffers (like a copper ore storage for the furnace array). If they are about to get empty, stop adding the fuel.

But I think this is an overkill. Instead you can just calculate the maximal amount of coal you'll need to fuel all of you furnaces, waypoints, trains etc. and maintain the coal production at a bit higher rate. If you don't like calculating such stuff, just make really a lot of coal ay one factory and distribute it all over the map using trains.

Since posting this I have sextupled my coal production and it's now keeping 10 Waypoints completely stocked and back filled (a big crate buffer in case of an emergency, which has already happened once, the train stopped stopping at one of my waypoints and I couldn't figure out why for about an hour)
