How do ladders work?
I am expecting this to be a dumb question and I've probably just overlooked something really obvious, but how to you use ladders? I am completely stuck. I've unlocked everything I can up to rock sparks, but I have no access to any of the mountain stuff other than walking through the gullies which (as far as I can see) don't contain any of the resources needed to progress.

I have ladders automated which I had assumed I would be able to use to climb the mountains and get to the rock spark shrine but they appear to just be inventory resources. I don't see how to get them into the world.

Loving the game! :D

You need to carry a ladder in your inventory and then build it via the Build Menu :)
It costs exactly 1 ladder to build, so you should be good to go already.

OK. I swear I did look but I just completely blanked on it apparently. I'll go back and look properly. Thank you! :D

Also don't worry later on you can automate your ladder/elevator build capacity by building supply chests.

I have a supply chest or each resource (basically) which helps a ton when exploring the rocky mountains. (I also went to the edge of the map it looks like which you can walk around in? now sure about that.)

I believe I spotted the issue... I sat down and played a single session from start to unlocking ladders, I crafted the ladders and had a stack of 20 in my inventory, I went to the build menu and there was no option for ladders nor ramps. I saved my game exited the game, then relaunched the game and continued my save, and voila ladders were NOW a buildable option. I think perhaps the game does not properly update the unlock in the build menu for ladders and ramps until you save and exit, or perhaps it is a frequent enough occurrence that it is throwing people off. perhaps an untimely autosave prevents the current load of the game from registering the unlock but upon loading your game it reads the unlocks and properly applies them.

It's the same with the sparks activator and deactivator, they show up intermittently. I am playing coop with my partner so not sure if that makes a difference, and there is no apparent connection between who it shows up for as we see them at different times.
We are loving this game and certainly don't find it a steep learning curve as some comments indicate (on another post linking to this one). We are both process specialists by career so automation is up our alley :)

Hey! First of all: Glad you both like our game and are happy with our learning curve :)

We made some changes that hopefully should fix the issue with the next update!
