Unnecessarily Obtuse Pathing Required
I feel like I'm missing something. At the beginning, you can only make Crafty Sparks at one Craft Spark Shrine that spawns in one spot and that you can't move. It also has two types of resources that also need to be placed on specific spots: Ancient Base and Giant Trees, which means I have very long pathing to wire up between these points. Is that correct so far?

Where this game is really, really losing me is with these random height differences and immovable obstacles that are making pathing obnoxiously annoying and sapping almost all the enjoyment I'm having with this game. I've linked an image below that shows how my one Craft Spark Shrine is almost completely separated from Ancient Bases and Giant Trees by what may as well be a cliff, since there's no way to get a path over it. I can't even imagine how things will scale if there are literally 4 lanes of paths I can get over the sparsely populated narrow ramps.

Am I missing something? Is this a "bad" seed? This is quickly killing any desire I have to play this game any further. :(

There should be lots of other bases and Giant trees around. Try exploring around until you find a closer together situation. Other path tools become available, although I yet to see one that goes up cliffs, there are ramps around that should allow you to go up/down. If you haven't already found the way, you will be able to make more logging camps on giant trees very soon.
I mentioned this in my post. These shrines are in fixed locations, and there is one of each. Going further away would just exacerbate the issue.
The shrine spawns can be annoying for automation, but the quest to unlock them only requires one of the new type and a bunch of the previous spark. I didn't even bother automating any of the shrines beyond the first because of how annoying pathing can be to them. Maximizing the previous type of spark and making the new one only once you get the recipe for the buildable spark crafter in a reasonable spot seems to be the way to go... with a little manual transferring if you really want the new spark types.

I think you're meant to find a good cluster of resources that is relatively flat and just build a base there, but I don't know how well that scales. I was able to make it to the next biome in tier 4 using just a single relatively small base. If you're meant to eventually use every resource patch on the map, it'll definitely involve some really long paths.

The game's roadmap has trains, at least...
Yeah, that's probably what I'm missing. I shouldn't be trying to automate the fixed shrines. Thanks!

Hello! Without wanting to spoil too much, there are definitely tools that you unlock over time that will help you find solutions for puzzles such as different levels of height or making longer paths efficient.
At the start, the pathing tools are basic, which means that you have limited ways and methods to create and maintain production lines. However, as you progress further, there will be various tools and methods you can deploy to further enhance efficiency. I just deploy to progress, and revisit lines when I unlock new pathing methods and balancers.

I am also experiencing frustration as a new player when it comes to this stuff. It feels confusing and overwhelming by not having the learning process be closer together at the beginning.

I played a couple hours and was having massive fun until the game was seemingly asking me to construct these super long roads.

I get that things will unlock to apparently make this easier or whatever, but all of a sudden it just became too much and I stopped playing.
And having to suffer through not having supply chests during that adds to the pain as well. Supply chests connected to each otehr for character crafting purposes should be something available from the start, not something to unlock. It makes that 2-3 hour mark that much more insufferable.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm sorry that the learning curve feels so steep to you and that unlocks come to late for you. It's very valuable feedback for us though!

If it is any help, I mentioned (spoiled) some ways to deal with longer paths. I hope there's something in there for you that makes you wanna pick up the game again!
