Main quest bugged?

I see that the Main Quest still is active after I've completed a ton of content. all of the objectives are met but the quest isn't done.

it says "now that the stumpy spark shrine is unlocked you should check it out and see what has changed". but I did that a long time ago?

The quests aren't bugged, I've played the entire content (the first two biomes).

If you're at the stumpy shrine, you're still at the very first part of the game.

Click the shrine and it'll show you the recipe for creating stumpy sparks. Feed it the materials it wants (aether shard and wood) and add the stumpy spark you got as a worker in that "factory".

Now the shrine will begin building new stumpy sparks

Production buildings work twice as fast if two workers are assigned instead of one. And you'll also want a group of sparks to follow you to gather resources and do other stuff. Crafty sparks work even faster, you'll unlock them as one of the next types of sparks. There are 5 types in total in the woodlands and 7 types in the mountains.

All spark shrines and production builings work the same way; add resources (or make sure that a stream of resources flows into the building), have one or preferably two sparks as worker units at the production building and remember to collect the output or setup a system so the output items are delivered to a barrel for you to collect them later. If you do that, you'll need a road, a barrel to store stuff in and a spark to carry the output. Input resources work the same way when you unlock the crate.

The quest IS bugged, but it doesn’t always bug out.

I started over and the quest didn’t bug out.

I don’t know why the quest gets stuck sometimes but it definitely does.

Just learn to play the game. I've played 60 hours in the game and done the entire current content.

There is definitely a bug. It’s ok?? It’s early access. It’s ok for bugs to exist. Let’s acknowledge them so they get fixed instead of being in denial land. Omg.

Thanks for the clarification! Another follow up question: When you say the bug was resolved after restarting the game, does that mean the quest was set to completed? Since you said you already completed the quest but it was initially not set to completed. Just want to find out what exactly you mean by "worked perfectly" after restart so we know what to look for :)

Oh sorry; what I mean to say is that I had to start a new game from the beginning. Then the quest wasn’t bugged. I only realized the game was bugged because the game had worked properly for my wife.

Are you certain that you don't have to go talk to the elder standing on the books? I thought I had the same problem, but that's the hidden last step often. The quest shows a check mark, but you have to go back to talk to him anyways.

In terms of repro: not 100% sure but I think I accidentally skipped steps in the quests, meaning I went ahead then went back to the quest, but then it didn’t work. Mainly since I was new so got confused I think.

Which steps do you mean did you skip? From what I derive from your info we're talking about the "Examine the Shrine" quest, which has two quest steps: Leaving the Old Mineshaft and Examining the Ancient Shrine. Now I'm wondering how you were able to leave the village without going through the mineshaft, if that's the case :)

I do not exactly remember. Suffice it to say that I explored the entire area outside of the cliffs without being able to build any structures. I found all the shrines, and did all of the objectives that can be done without being able to build structures (since that quest was bugged).
