Gosh, this game is boring as F.
Super basic combat, too many dialogues breaking the pacing, poor platforming, and all the rhythm stuff doesn't make any sense. I regret buying this. Last time that I take steam reviews seriously.

Most of this is pure opinion, I disagree with most of it, but I am curious how "all the rhythm stuff doesn't make any sense". You and the world moves to the beat; what doesn't make sense about that?
I don't feel my hits synchronized with the music even when they are perfect. You can put any song on and the rhythm remains the same, so I feel like all I'm doing is pushing the button when the 808 indicates it, and that's it. Maybe some musicians can hear the beat, but I can't, so I can't be sure.

Keep in mind, your attacks come out one beat after your input (two beats after if it's a heavy attack), so the only IMMEDIATE feedback you get for it is the "HEY!" sounds when you press the button with the right timing. That's your indicator that you're getting the on-beat damage bonus.

The main draw of the battle system here is doing crowd control with all the enemies, keeping the attack timing in mind for lights and heavies. It gets more complex as you unlock more combo variants that mix up both attack types and have different effects on hit (launchers, extra energy regen, calling in a partner to apply a stun debuff, etc).
The enemies also telegraph their attacks to the beat, all of them do in some manner. Both you and them always follow the music.
So you're gonna end up having to time parries and dodges with the beat too, not just your own combos (which you sometimes may have to cut off to parry to the beat and then counter).

...I can't really argue against what you said about the music though. Most of this game's music is rock which is unfortunate because it means most songs end up having a similar tempo, the same basic 4/4 beat, and melodies that most of the time aren't all that memorable. It just kinda blends into the "rock slop" soup.

There IS some variety mind you, stage 8 has some REALLY good jazzy stuff for example.
But yeah, if you're not a rock fan (or a gring0, same thing), then a lot of the music isn't going to "click" for you.
I know it didn't for me, but the gameplay has been good enough to keep me playing anyway.

That right there is your problem. Stop buying into hype culture, don't take everyone's word for it, come up with your own opinion and make an informed purchase next time.

that is probably due to input lag (or being a scrub), you can go adjust the difference in the settings.

Nah, I get the "Ey" each time, but I don't get why this feacture is suppose to be so good like everybody is praising. This is another game that I will never understand how it got so many good reviews.

Because its a good game?

I can also question why games like GOW reboot are universally praised when I find it inferior to literally any GOW game that came out before it but its just not for me.

I understand if it doesn't click for you, that's perfectly fair, but I've explained the mechanics already in that post above. It's about getting in the flow of the rhythm and coordinating your movement and attacks, grappling from enemy to enemy and parrying their attacks to leave them vulnerable to a variety of dynamic combos and tag attacks.
Imagine DMC if it had rhythm game mechanics and matching audio cues so you don't get potshotted from offscreen by random grunts.

If you're NOT into the rhythm aspect of it though, or the music, then it's gonna be a harder sell for you and that's fine. But keep in mind that as the mechanics open up a few chapters in it gets a LOT deeper and more engaging than it might initially seem.

Coming from the rhythm game community, we don't get a lot of good titles with a lot of polish. This is one of the best ones we have gotten in quite some time.

If you don't enjoy it, that's fine. If everyone that liked the color blue and reviewed a blue game really well, but you like the color green instead, thanks for giving it a try, but maybe it's just not for you.

As for the dialogue breaking the pacing... I feel like it is fairly consistent throughout and sets that tone early on. All the quirky puns are a large part of the charm. If there was less, I think the gameplay alone would get a bit repetitive. The platforming is bad tho, yeah. Bad camera angles make some jumps harder than they need to be.

Ehh I see where the op is coming from at least. I haven’t gotten into the game as much as I hoped. And I’m fine with that. I don’t regret my purchase. Some games just don’t vibe with me but perhaps it will down the road as that happens from time to time. I did feel like there was a lot of game time story or clue interruptions that did break the vibe I was trying to find.

I just 100%ed the game, took about 66 hours to do. I agree the combat isn't the most engaging (though getting insanely high scores with Korsica and any heavy beat combo will always active neurons in my brain). Platforming can be really slow, but once you've played enough you can figure out ways to skip sections. The beat system can take a while to get used to, but it becomes very natural when you play for enough time.

Combat is as basic as you make it be, but it's definitely far, far from very basic compared to many games that try to do this kind of combat lately. But yes, your attacks come one beat after you press, so you do have to keep that in mind.

I really have no intention with being disrespectful when I say this. But everything you have mentioned legit just sounds like either a skill issue or just personal preference and opinion.

You might see it as me being biased because of my review for the game, but its not like you really have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to your opinions. Just saying
