"Microsoft says it needs games like Hi-Fi Rush the day after killing its studio"
I feel like being in a higher position of a tech company is the easiest job in the world when I read stuff like this.

When you don't understand what the job entails, it's easy to feel like it's the easiest job in the world.

Clearly the studio's financial struggles far outweighs the revenue generated from Hi-Fi Rush, otherwise Microsoft wouldn't be shutting them down for no reason.

People also seem to think that the closure of Tango means that Hi-Fi Rush has also been killed - it isn't.
Microsoft still owns the IP to Hi-Fi Rush and if they're a profit-driven company (which they are), it's in their best interest to focus on successful IPs.

It wouldn't be the first time other studios take over popular games and make successful sequels; case in point with Fallout and Baldur's Gate franchise

You gotta read between the lines. They do need it. They need as much content as possible for their Gamepass. It's just...they don't want to be the one to make. And be on the hook for the costs. Sure, they'll put up the big boys. Elder Scrolls. Fallout. Halo. CoD. These franchises drive console and Gamepass sales, something MS wants to do anyways. But, like Netflix, they also need a bunch of rando content to fill out their offering. However, MS took one look at Netflix and said, "No way do WE want to be on the hook for those development costs. Better you do that and then we'll be happy to host your game on Gamepass!"
