Is keeping to the rhythm difficult or am I just bad with rhythm?
I just want to get a sense at how hard everyone think it is to keeping to the rhythm in this game. I play on Hard difficulty and I average around 45-50% just timing, which I find unsatisfactory but also I am struggling to get it any higher.

I thought it was pretty easy, doesn't go below 90% ever.

Just take your time and train it, you'll eventually become good.

Tbh I'm pretty bad at it myself, but this is the first rhythm game I've played. I can get clear times, but trying to get the beats is oof. Even when I think I'm doing well. Feels like I just can't get a grasp on it.

You'll get better with time. Look at 808 while you attack or take a second and listen to his footsteps to hear the timing and press the buttons to that timing.

It can be difficult and demanding at first. I'd gotten B ranks on Just Timing when I'd just started out on Very Hard. It was a rough start, since I generally avoided rhythm games (I still do) and I also knew nothing about the game mechanics.

I recall that at some point - during the second last boss battle - I understood that I just needed to press the attack and parry buttons in an honest beat. Then my Just Timing started to went up, staying around 80%.

After beating the game on Rhythm Master and still sticking around for achievements, I get S ranks without ever paying attention to the music, surroundings, 808 and so on. I get 95% regularly, and got an 100% today too.

Just keep playing! There will be a moment when you think you finally got the hang of it.

I started at hard settings and had the same difficulties. After replaying and aiming for 100% I get around 80 - 90%. Its all a question of time and practise.

playing it on very hard, I am almost always 60-80%, but the cutscenes between "waves" often throws me off and then almost get no right timed atk in the next 2-4 combos

One thing that'll help if your missing the beat on the first hit is that your following hits will be on the beat so long as you attack again when your first one would usually hit. Dodging's a bit harder to get down since it can be hard to chain them together while multi-tasking everything else.

I was pretty bad starting out too and I wouldn't consider myself beat-deaf at all. You just have to get used to it and literally feel the beat (as corny as that sounds lol). Number one thing that helped me most was focusing on Chai's animations, specifically watching and listening for when attacks hit. Most attacks hit once on the beat so as long as your pressing attacks when they land you'll be getting that just timing up. Buying all the combo strings and going into training with the invincible dummy is good too. Just queue up all the combos in the trainer so you can learn them and practice. I didn't spend hours in there, just a little while every now and then just focusing on hitting the beat. Now im head bobbing and clapping my feet together while jamming in the game as I play lol.

Rhythm games might not be for you then.

I'm pretty bad at it, but i'm not a perfectionist at all and had fun with the game, my % is 50 at the lowest at 75% at max, but that 75% is VERY rare, only at the The Prodigy track. I'm pretty sure im beat deaf tho', but hey, first rhythm game i actually finished.

It's also important to make sure that your monitor isn't experiencing delay or latency. There's a menu in settings called Latency Check you can use to compare how much of an offset there is between when the buttons need to be pressed vs. when you're pressing the buttons according to your monitor delay. Some monitors have a game mode that can be enabled to reduce delay. There's also a Low Latency Input option under controls which may reduce visual quality to ensure there isn't any processing lag causing the visuals to not line up with the mechanical timing.

Otherwise, yeah there's a learning curve. Some people struggle with rhythm games, some struggle with action games and some struggle with multi-tasking so they only focus on one side at the cost of doing poorly with the other. You can definitely learn to deal with both, but I can only recommend that you persevere and maybe spend some time in the training mode!

my advice; dash between combat encounters in the dash dash dash light setup. keeps your hands busy and keeps the beat ingrained in you.
