Custom music
Is it possible? If not, will they add this feature in the future?

Considering that everything in the game basically syncs up to the music, I would imagine that it wouldn't really be easy to do 100% and just replacing songs for different ones would probably break the effect

True, but Metal Hellsinger managed to do so, you just have to modify the song to fit the game's rhythm.
I hope HI FI can do this as well.

Well, I'm not sure if it really compared as in Metal: Hellsinger it seems like it's only the gameplay that is in sync with the music, but here it's basically everything, and not to the beat only, there are things that are synced with each note of a song (mostly during the cutscenes, but still)

I took another look at HI FI, there is a little robot floating on the left shoulder of the main character, blinking blue light with the same rhythm throughout the entire game, which means the whole game's music has the same pace.
So I really don't see the impossibly for custom music, it also doesn't have to be perfect, but it will be a nice feature to have, especially for a rhythm game.

It would be cool to have the option for different music, but I think there's too much going on in the games world and cutscenes to make different songs work. It's tied to a beat, but there's platforming and movement tied to the beat, so if you put in a song with a higher BPS, it could hypothetically make some platform sections impossible to play or a visual mess. Like putting a Slayer song in would just make everything chaos lol

I don't think that's the case, my guess is that it would just not be in sync anymore as I kinda doubt that they actually made everything sync via code. They probably just made the animations so they can be in sync with the music and are making sure that they are playing it at the correct time

I agree, but that's the player's fault for installing a music that is impossible to beat, just like someone installed a game-breaking mod into Skyrim.

Good point, well I guess the only hope is wait for developers's updates. But still, if they won't add it, it would be a huge shame and a massive downgrade of the game's replayability.

would be an awesome idea for a mod or DLC and wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world if you found a song with the same BPM as the one you're replacing
[MM] WMan22 Jan 30, 2023 @ 6:25pm
You'd need the stems for the music, since they get dynamically layered.
Elevna Feb 7, 2023 @ 3:00pm
it would be insanely cool if they added a feature to the game where you can import a custom music file, and then put in the BPM of the song so the beat matches the custom song, and then you can play through some special stages or something with it

UE4 has audio sinced with game time. if you swap the song with a different bpm you should be able to adjust the game time pretty easily to make it work. if there was any kind of mod access to the game it would be something i could easily do.

I think I'm 100% music inept... I don't see how anything in the game is in sync with the music... actually, I don't even understand what beat or frequency the music is. To me it's just... music? I can't identify any rhythm... :(
