This is just a very bad quality game if judged on its own merit
I'm halfway through the game so I admit I haven't seen it all but so far I havent been the least bit impressed. I wasn't really enjoying this game like SM1 but couldnt put my hand to it but now I can.

The game is just boring. Plain and simple. It's obvious it wasnt the core Insomniac team who made this game because the game design really shows. All the missions I've been in have been super repetitive, and keeps involving the same stealth into building, beat up enemies, power charge some random generator whatever then get out. Does this sound like side mission s***? NO, because these are ALSO the main missions. That's how lacklustre and bad the mission designs are.

And my biggest pain point are the enemies. Like WTF IS THIS??? THE WHOLE TIME I'M JUST FIGHTING ONE VILLAIN??? And the villain is just somebody in a lame ass uncreative metal suit like we havent already seen that before in 100 other Marvel villains. Except those tend to be side villains, not main villains. The best thing about SM1 was how varied all the villains you faced were, and the game not just having you fight Doc Oct all the way. SM1 also slid in random unexpected villains every now and then. Here? It's just human enemies one after another, only differentiated by their annoying punch blocking abilities.

Gameplay-wise is of course, smooth and well, only because they're just regurgitating the same stuff over straight from SM1. There's nothing new gameplay-wise aside from being able to turn invisible and use that electric ability. Honestly the game feels a lot like a DLC instead of a full fledged game and I read somewhere it was indeed meant to be a DLC. If so it explains why there's so much repetitive s*** everywhere. Insomniac no doubt deliberately just padded the game out to be on its own instead of a DLC so we have more than half the main story missions being boring repetitive s***

Gee I realized I wrote enough words to make this my own review of the game. Yeah... yeah it's gonna be my review of this game alright. Really a disappointment. I hope SM2 is better than this

i just finished the game, and i agree with you... and Phin... OH Phin... ever since miles got beaten to a pulp and she called called him a liar... i started to hate this Miles Morales and the characters, The Miles from Spiderverse is so much better, the only good thing this game has is its combat and the rest are poorly written.

I'm at that point in the game right now (when he gets beaten), feel like calling it a day and moving on to SM2 lol.

just turn off your brain and finish it. it's the way.
I agree. I just don't really enjoy Miles as a character in this universe. Enoyed Miles way more in the movie. I understand that the group of people we are dealing with are High school students in a PC time frame and all but DAMN is it just kind of cringe. I look past it though because I understand they're young kids who haven't matured or experienced anything in the world yet and the devs are just doing what they gotta do to save face.

"NeW ThIN G S SC A RE OLDER PEOPLE (anyone born before Y2K apparently) !! ! X D XD XD XD XD THEY STUPID AND IGNORANT"

Gameplay is awesome obviously (other than the extreme stealth oriented gameplay they want to push and punish you for not playing that way) it's just an XPAC really for SM1. The story just seems like a rushed short story about spider-man Jr trying to be Spider-Man prime all while trying to get the love of the citizens and social media. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE DANIKAST OR WHATEVER THE HELL IT IS CALLED.

I would say that the production quality is very high because the game runs great, looks great, and it's really mostly the cinematic sequences that keep me interested in watching the story progress, but the gameplay and maybe even the environment is boring. I wasn't terribly interested in the last game, but I pushed through it, then my idiot self bought this game on sale and it's basically just the same uninteresting gameplay with a different story. The gameplay reminds me a lot of the Batman Arkham games, but the environments in the Arkham games were neater.

I don't know how to describe it, but this game is just really... plain?

Spiderman 1 was amazing IMO. But this game just doesnt innovate on that at all. Changing the city to winter which has completely no bearing to gameplay anyway and giving Miles those electric powers are very weak lazy additions. This is 100% a DLC, not a base game and should not have been one.

if you don't play it on a challenging setting where you are forced to start over multiple times on each map like frostpunk would be then you will definitely get bored with it IMO

nah i get what hes saying. Pulling through this game on harder difficutly does not just make the AI gain health to make it more annoying, they also stop start to attack and think properly. Of course, the core gameplay won't be changed as much but it certainly does force you to make use of those new tools miles got to feature. Easier difficulties do not require any of those gadgets and new mechanics so it's absolutely logical that it'd seem boring af.

Miles is just too much of a ♥♥♥♥♥ ass momma's boy. Not well written at all. They shouldve made him more like the character from the into the spiderverse movies.

Plus the VA of this character can really be like nails on a chalkboard after a while.. FML his voice and line deliveries are so whiney and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the most part.

I dunno why Insomniac does this but they make their protagonist just TOO perfect! What are they, Mormon?!?!

For example:
Wha!?!?! I never steal or cheat!
Wha?!? I never swear or say slurs!
WHA?!?! I never littered or flipped off a dude who almost ran my over with his bicycle!

And dont get me started on the boss fights! I can easily beat Rhino like he is a redheaded stepchild but as soon as the chick with her ♥♥♥♥♥♥ silver mask comes along she tramples me like im a blind kid getting mauled by a Bison! FFS, she's a normal HUMAN!!! A HUMAN!!! I guess her genitalia gives her like special strength or something. V FOR VAGINA Y'ALL!

Totally pisses me off
